Heavy Duty Mechanic I & E Construction is a fast-growing, family-owned, full-service general contractor seeking an experienced Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our team. This role serves as the central point of responsiblilty for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining the company's heavy-duty construction equipment, trucks, and support vehicles. The Heavy Duty Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining the company's heavy-duty construction equipment, trucks, and support vehicles. This role focuses on preventative maintenance, advanced diagnostics, and detailed repair work to ensure equipment operates safely and effectively. The Heavy Duty Mechanic works independently and as part of the maintenance team, documenting all work accurately and supporting a safe, clean, and efficient shop environment.ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
Equipment Diagnostics & Repair Conduct thorough inspections and diagnostic testing to identify worn, damaged, or malfunctioning components. Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems on heavy-duty equipment and vehicles. Utilize diagnostic software including CAT ET, Cummins Insite, Mack PTT, Ford IDS, and similar systems. Verify proper equipment and vehicle performance following repairs. Apply principles of heavy-duty and construction equipment repair across a variety of equipment types, including Caterpillar equipment, man lifts, forklifts, and heavy trucks. Preventative Maintenance & Documentation Perform scheduled preventative maintenance to reduce downtime and extend equipment life. Complete detailed, accurate work orders using tablets or computerized maintenance systems. Maintain shop equipment according to operating instructions and safety standards. Ensure tools and work areas remain clean, organized, and presentable. Safety, Compliance & Professional Standards Follow all company policies outlined in the Employee Manual. Observe OSHA regulations and maintain safe working practices at all times. Promote a safe, respectful, and constructive work environment. Maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive or classified company information. Treat internal and external customers with professionalism and courtesy. Teamwork, Communication & Development Collaborate effectively with coworkers, supervisors, and management to support shop and field needs. Control costs by evaluating service methods, repair approaches, and parts options. Participate in required training sessions, including equipment updates and procedural improvements. Demonstrate punctuality, honesty, and accountability in daily responsibilities. Submit required reports, forms, and documentation accurately and on time.Education/qualifications:
Extensive knowledge of heavy-duty and construction equipment repair. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and remain on feet for extended periods. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Active Oregon driver's license with a clean driving record and reliable transportation. CDL preferred or eligible to obtain. Comfortable working full-time in a shop and field environment based in Woodburn, OR. Experience working on Caterpillar, Ford, or comparable equipment is a plus!BENEFITS
