Heavy Equipment Field Mechanic/Technician

Job Summary The Field Mechanic is responsible for working on an active construction job site to diagnose and repair heavy equipment. This position requires a person who can work independently, is self-motivated under limited supervision, and manages limited downtime of the equipment. Essential Functions A strong mechanical aptitude, the willingness to learn, a good work ethic, and a positive attitude. Diagnoses and repairs large heavy equipment on the job site and company vehicles. Performs preventative maintenance and large variety of repairs of heavy equipment. Reads and interprets vehicle condition reports and repair orders. Completes paperwork associated with repairs and inspections. Follows all safety policies and procedures. Required Education and Experience High School diploma or

GED. 3-4

years' experience on large heavy construction equipment Diesel, hydraulics, electrical & hydrostatic experience Basic computer skills. Valid commercial driver's license and DOT medical card Preferred Education and Experience Mechanic degree or certificate. Certificate in electrical diagnostic. Welding/fabrication experience. Work Environment Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. Exposure to extreme weather conditions. Noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, sitting and climbing for extended periods of time. Must frequently lift or move items 50 pounds or more Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Ability to work and walk on uneven terrain. Please note this is a safety-sensitive position. Position Type and Hours This is a full-time position, 50-60 hours per week. Days and hours of work vary according to job. Occasional evening, weekend and overtime work may be required as job duties demand.
