As we continue to grow and expand our operations, we are currently seeking a talented and experienced Lead Mechanic to join our team.Position Overview:
As the Lead Mechanic, you will play a vital role in our company's success by overseeing the maintenance, repair and readiness of our fleet, equipment and small engines that support high end residential landscape operations. You will help train and guide other mechanics and field team members in equipment care, preventative maintenance, safety standards and repair best practices. You will work closely with operations managers, crew leaders and outside vendors to ensure that trucks, trailers and equipment are operating safely, efficiently and professionally at all times. You will also play an important role in preparing and maintaining equipment for snow operations throughout the winter season. - Maintain and repair all company assets including: light/medium duty trucks, trailers, landscape equipment and compact equipment.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues
- Perform routine preventative maintenance to minimize downtime
- Coordinates truck and trailer inspections annually
- Records and manages all vehicle and equipment maintenance in software systems (GeoTab)
- Manages Geotab (GPS) and dashcam system in all company vehicles
- Ensure all equipment is clean, presentable, and job-ready daily (aligned with high-end client expectations) by scheduling and recording washing and waxing of vehicles.
- Maintain a highly organized, efficient, and safe mechanic shop
- Manage parts inventory, ordering, and vendor relationships
- Work with lot operations to implement and maintain service tracking systems for all equipment
Snow Operations Responsibilities:
- Lead all mechanical preparation for snow season, including installing plows, spreaders, fleet winterization and readiness checks
- Ensure all snow equipment is fully operational and staged prior to events
- Be available during snow events for executing snow list and performing emergency repairs (as needed)
- Coordinate post-storm equipment inspections, repairs, and re-stocking
- Maintain backup equipment readiness to ensure uninterrupted service during storms
- Support rapid turnaround between storm events (often within tight windows)
Requirements:
- 2-3+ years of experience in fleet or equipment maintenance (landscape, construction, or similar industry preferred)
- Strong working knowledge of: small engines, gas and diesel engines and hydraulic/electric systems
- Experience with snow equipment (plows, salt spreaders, etc.) strongly preferred
- Ability to troubleshoot and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- Experience managing inventory and vendor relationships
- Valid driver's license (CDL a plus)
- Being a bilingual (English/Spanish) speaker is a plus.
