From stabilization to asphalt - we do it all! About the Role Metro Asphalt is seeking a full‑time Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team. This role is responsible for performing preventative maintenance, diagnosing mechanical issues, and completing repairs or part replacements on a variety of heavy equipment. The position requires travel to job sites throughout Kansas City and surrounding areas to handle emergency repairs and field service needs. The ideal candidate brings strong problem‑solving abilities, solid mechanical knowledge, and the ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with team members and supervisors. Service truck and full shop provided. Responsibilities
- Maintain and repair a wide range of construction equipment and on‑road trucks, ensuring optimal performance and minimal downtime.
- Perform detailed inspections, diagnose mechanical issues, and complete all necessary repairs and preventive maintenance.
- Maintain accurate, up‑to‑date logs of inspections, repairs, parts used, and maintenance activities in accordance with company and regulatory standards.
- Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to source parts, manage inventory, and ensure timely delivery of materials.
- Ensure all machinery complies with safety regulations, including repairing or replacing safety devices and conducting functional tests.
- Travel to remote worksites to troubleshoot and repair disabled or malfunctioning equipment on-site.
- Support safe work practices by following and promoting company and OSHA safety procedures.
Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in the repair and maintenance of heavy equipment and on‑road trucks.
- Strong proficiency with hydraulic systems across multiple types of heavy machinery.
- Ability to conduct, document, and maintain records of all required safety inspections.
- Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
- Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to work independently in field conditions.
- Ability to lift heavy components, use diagnostic tools, and work in varying outdoor environments.
Preferred:
Completion of OSHA 10‑Hour Safety Training.Must Apply In-Person Pay:
