Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a Heavy Construction Equipment/Truck Mechanic to become a vital part of maintaining and repairing a wide range of heavy machinery used in construction. Such as excavators, bulldozers, pay loaders, dump trucks, trailers, dirt rollers, crushing/screening plants, plate compactors, and much more, ensuring optimal performance and safety. As a skilled mechanic, you will safely and efficiently diagnose issues, perform repairs, and conduct routine maintenance. Class B is a plus. Local 478 members are encouraged to apply. Must have own tools to work on heavy equipment. We will provide diagnostic tools and specialty. Responsibilities Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic issues on heavy construction equipment using schematics and diagnostic tools. Perform repairs and maintenance on various machinery including excavators, bulldozers, pay loaders, dump trucks, dirt rollers, crushing/screening plants, and more. Understand the importance of preventative maintenance and equipment downtime. Understand all DOT laws and regulations when performing work to over the road trucks Conduct inspections to identify wear and tear on components such as transmissions, brakes, suspensions, air brakes, and HVAC systems. Fabricate parts or modify equipment as needed using welding, soldering, hand tools, power tools, and fabrication techniques. Rebuild or replace engines, transmissions, hydraulics systems, and other critical components to ensure peak performance. Maintain detailed service records of repairs performed and parts used; ensure all work complies with safety standards and manufacturer specifications. Skills Experience with heavy equipment brands such as Caterpillar, Volvo, John Deere, Terex, Wacker, Mack, Kenworth, etc. Strong mechanical knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, and air brake systems. Proficiency in reading schematics and technical manuals for diagnostics and repairs. Skilled in welding, fabrication, soldering, and assembly of heavy machinery parts. Experience with safely operating heavy equipment and trucks.
