This role plays an important part in supporting over 50 years of success in the construction industry by ensuring fleet vehicles and equipment remain safe, reliable, and operating efficiently. The Asphalt Mechanic will maintain and repair heavy trucks, diesel-powered vehicles, trailers, and other fleet equipment used in construction operations while following Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety standards. Key Responsibilities Diagnose and repair mechanical issues on diesel and gas-powered vehicles, including heavy-duty trucks and trailers. Perform repairs involving brakes, hydraulics, fuel and ignition systems, electrical systems, suspension, alignment, exhaust, and air conditioning. Communicate repair needs and technical issues clearly to non-mechanical personnel when necessary. Assist technician mechanics with technical repairs and maintenance activities. Stay current with industry technology and repair techniques through ongoing training. Report major repair concerns and maintenance issues to management promptly. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Qualifications 1-3 years of experience in automotive or diesel mechanical repair and diagnostics. Working knowledge of engines, transmissions, electrical systems, steering, suspension, and air conditioning systems. Ability to diagnose and repair Class 8 trucks, trailers, and light-duty fleet vehicles. Understanding of DOT maintenance requirements. Must provide personal tools required for the position. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced shop environment with a positive attitude. Must pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check. Preferred Qualifications Experience with vehicle electrical and air conditioning diagnostics and repair. CDL Class A or B license. Experience repairing combination vacuum trucks. Valid driver's license with an acceptable 3-year motor vehicle record. Welding experience.
