Mechanic Technician

Mechanic Technician Job Description As a Mechanic Technician, you will perform preventive maintenance (PM) and DOT inspections on trailers, ensuring compliance with company and regulatory standards. You will diagnose and repair air brake systems, electrical/lighting, suspensions, landing gear, doors, floors, and frames. Additionally, you will conduct wheel-end service and tire repairs/replacements, complete structural repairs, and utilize diagnostic equipment, hand/power tools, and service software to document work orders accurately and efficiently. Responsibilities Perform preventive maintenance (PM) and DOT inspections on trailers. Diagnose and repair air brake systems, electrical/lighting, suspensions, landing gear, doors, floors, and frames. Conduct wheel-end service and tire repairs/replacements. Complete structural repairs, including minor welding/cutting and patching. Use diagnostic equipment, hand/power tools, and service software for accurate documentation. Identify parts needs and coordinate with parts team to source/order components. Maintain a clean, safe work area and adhere to all safety and environmental procedures. Support urgent/emergency repairs and assist with on-site/yard calls as needed. Collaborate with supervisors and dispatch to prioritize equipment and reduce out-of-service time. Essential Skills 1-3+ years of experience as a Trailer Mechanic, Diesel/Heavy Equipment Tech, or similar role. Strong working knowledge of air brake systems, electrical (12V), suspensions, and trailer chassis. Ability to read and follow work orders, service manuals, and wiring diagrams. Valid driver's license with a good driving record. Own a standard set of mechanic's hand tools. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of North Charleston, SC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $47840.00 - $58240.00/yr.
