Inspection Technician - Electric Motor & Rotating Equipment Good Fruit Company | Memphis, TN | Full-Time | M-F, 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM Do your best work. Own your results. Hold the standard. We're looking for someone who takes real pride in doing things right — not just fast. At Good Fruit Electric, the Inspection Technician role isn't about checking boxes. It's about being the person who sets the quality standard that the rest of the repair process depends on. What You'll Do You'll be the first set of expert hands on every motor and piece of rotating equipment that comes through our shop. Your work — teardown, measurement, documentation — is the foundation every quote and repair plan is built on. Accuracy here isn't optional; it's the job. Receive and identify equipment — verify, tag, and stage incoming units; capture nameplate and condition photos per SOP; maintain chain-of-custody Perform controlled teardown — use the right tools, rigging, hoists, overhead cranes, forklifts, pullers, and presses to disassemble safely without damaging critical surfaces Inspect and measure with precision — record bearing fits, journals, housing bores, rotor/stator condition, and runout; no detail gets glossed over Document completely — capture before/after and defect photo sets, complete inspection checklists, and upload everything to our ERP with correct job metadata Own your area — follow PPE and crane/forklift procedures, maintain a clean 5S workspace, and flag problems before they become someone else's What Success Looks Like We measure performance clearly, and we expect you to hold yourself to it: ≥95% of inspection reports submitted on time (within 24-48 business hours of receipt, depending on job size) ≤2% of reports returned for correction — you catch the issues before they come back to you Zero safety recordables — you do it right or you don't do it 5S audit targets met or exceeded — your work area reflects your standards What You Bring 1-3+ years in motor repair, industrial maintenance, machining, or a related trade (motor shop experience preferred) Confidence with hand/power tools, pullers, presses, and basic rigging/crane/forklift operation Hands-on proficiency with precision measurement tools — you know how to read them and what the numbers mean Comfortable with digital documentation — tablet/PC uploads, forms, and ERP entry High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree or technical certification a plus The Environment This is a shop floor role. You'll work around noise, dust, and electrical components. You'll lift up to 50 lbs regularly, stand and move throughout your shift, and use your hands for both heavy equipment and fine-detail work. Occasional overtime or weekends may be needed when production demands it. Why This Role You'll work independently with clear standards — no micromanagement, no ambiguity about what "good" looks like.
