Full Job Description Position Purpose:
The function of the Pump Shop Mechanic is to maintain, rebuild, troubleshoot, and repair various vacuum pumps, vehicles, and equipment at VTI and customer facilities. Experience as a diesel/engine mechanic will serve the pump shop mechanic well in this position.
Principal Duties:
Troubleshoot, repair, rebuild, and refurbish vacuum pumps, blowers, motors Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair various shop equipment such as air compressors, CNC mills and lathes Run and test a variety of vacuum pumps and other related equipment Precisely measure and meet tight tolerances Perform basic repairs and maintenance on company vehicles Test run and troubleshoot cryocooler units (will train) Complete evaluation sheets and determine repair costs Prepare quotes for repairs of customer pumps and equipment Work with vendors and manufacturers to research and order parts Maintain inventory of common repair kits and parts Drive a forklift (will train) Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment by working smartly and efficiently Use order board to prioritize workload and develop action plan to meet completion dates Assist customers with technical questions and troubleshooting Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
General Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent 3 to 5 years in automotive (diesel or engine mechanic) and/or industrial maintenance preferred. This type of experience will serve the candidate well in this position. Basic knowledge of air compressors and vacuum a plus Must have mechanical aptitude and knowledge of how to safely use the proper tools to complete tasks - hand tools, power tools, cutting tools, lifting equipment, etc. Knowledge of measuring devices, tape measure, calipers, thickness gauges Understanding of blueprints, equipment manuals, and technical drawings Excellent communication, basic math and basic computer skills Commitment to excellence and high standards Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills coupled with strong attention to detail and accuracy Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm Ability to understand any and all safety requirements and cautions Ability to perform the physical labor necessary, can lift up to 50 lbs. and perform repetitive tasks Ability to work well both independently and in a team environment Available for overtime including Saturdays as required
Pay Rate and Benefits:
