This position plays a critical role in ensuring the reliability, safety, and operational readiness of Company equipment while supporting construction operations in the field as needed. The successful candidate will divide time between maintenance activities, equipment repairs, preventative maintenance, fleet management, equipment inspections, and equipment operation based on project needs and operational demands. This position will work in a combination of shop, yard, and active construction project site environments and may travel between multiple project locations as required to support Company operations. Responsibilities Oversee day-to-day activities of the shop and maintenance area. Inspect, diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair heavy equipment, trucks, trailers, trailers, and related equipment. Perform preventative maintenance and scheduled service activities. Conduct diagnostic testing on diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, drivetrains, brakes, and other mechanical components. Respond to equipment breakdowns and perform field repairs, road calls, and emergency service as necessary. Travel to project sites to inspect, diagnose, repair, maintain, and support Company equipment and operations. Maintain accurate maintenance, inspection, and repair records. Manage and track parts inventory, supplies, and maintenance materials. Coordinate repairs with supervisors, operators, vendors, and equipment users. Recommend preventative maintenance measures and equipment improvements. Ensure compliance with Company safety policies, manufacturer recommendations, and maintenance requirements. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop and work area. Equipment Operation Responsibilities Operate Company equipment including, but not limited to, skid steers, excavators, backhoes, wheel loaders, rollers, forklifts, trenchers, tractors, and other construction equipment as assigned. Perform pre-operation and post-operation inspections of assigned equipment. Assist field crews with construction activities as needed. Support project operations during periods of reduced maintenance workload. Identify equipment deficiencies, maintenance concerns, and repair needs while operating equipment in the field. Assist with loading, unloading, transportation, and staging of equipment and materials as needed. Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements Minimum five (5) years of experience maintaining and repairing diesel-powered heavy equipment, trucks, trailers, and construction equipment. Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, brakes, and heavy equipment components. Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues. Experience loading, unloading, transporting, and securing equipment and materials safely. Knowledge of equipment inspections, preventative maintenance, and construction safety requirements. Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills. CDL preferred but not required. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license throughout employment. Must be eligible to operate Company vehicles and equipment in accordance with Company policy and insurance requirements. Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 75 pounds. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crawl, climb, and work around moving equipment. Ability to use hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and shop equipment. Work Environment This position regularly works in maintenance shops, equipment yards, and active construction project sites. Employees may be exposed to varying weather conditions, noise, dust, mud, moving equipment, and other conditions commonly associated with construction operations.
