Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and dependable 18-Wheeler Truck Installer to install, assemble, maintain, and repair equipment, components, and accessories on commercial trucks and trailers. The ideal candidate will have experience working with heavy-duty vehicles, electrical systems, mechanical components, and aftermarket equipment while maintaining high safety and quality standards. Key Responsibilities Install truck and trailer equipment such as liftgates, toolboxes, lighting systems, telematics, cameras, GPS units, and other accessories. Perform mechanical assembly and installation of heavy-duty truck components. Install and troubleshoot electrical wiring, harnesses, switches, lighting, and electronic systems. Read and interpret work orders, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and installation instructions. Use hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and diagnostic tools safely and effectively. Inspect completed installations to ensure compliance with manufacturer specifications and company quality standards. Conduct testing and troubleshooting to verify proper operation of installed equipment. Maintain accurate records of installations, repairs, and parts used. Follow all OSHA, DOT, and company safety procedures. Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe. Assist with repairs, modifications, and maintenance of commercial trucks and trailers as needed. Communicate with supervisors and customers regarding project status and installation requirements. Qualifications High school diploma or GED preferred. Experience in truck equipment installation, diesel mechanics, fleet maintenance, automotive electrical work, or a related field. Knowledge of 12V/24V electrical systems and heavy-duty vehicle components. Ability to read wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals. Experience with welding and fabrication is a plus. Valid driver's license required; CDL preferred but not required. Ability to lift up to 50-75 pounds and work in shop and outdoor environments. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Preferred Skills Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability. Experience with commercial truck upfitting and aftermarket equipment installation. Familiarity with hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong time-management and organizational skills. Physical Requirements Frequent standing, bending, kneeling, and climbing. Ability to work underneath and around large commercial vehicles. Ability to lift, carry, and move heavy equipment and materials. Comfortable working in varying weather and shop conditions.
