What You'll Do:
Conduct railcar inspections to ensure cars are in compliance, this may be to an exterior or interior of a tank or hopper car Climbing, ascending, or descending ladders, inside and out of railcar Moderate to heavy lifting Prepare the interior or exterior surface of the tank or hopper car for coating or lining by removing rust, weld slag, scale or other foreign contaminants. Select coatings following work specifications and prepares equipment for lining or paint application. Mask off components such as valves, trucks, couplers, or areas of the surface not to be sprayed. Mix coatings according to specifications and applies the coating to install or repair a section of a coating using airless spray equipment. Clean and maintains all equipment required to perform lining or paint repairs Apply decals as required to the tank or hopper car exterior. Clean completed interior coating prior to final inspection. Maintain work area in a neat and orderly manner and reports potential hazards. Perform repairs as necessary while always using current repair procedures. Meet the expectations and requirements of all customers to ensure we deliver an exceptional customer experience. Ensure all necessary invoicing, inspection, and work order information is accurate and complete. Actively participates in safety assessments, equipment inspections. Follow all safety rules and practices. May be involved in safety committees or initiatives Performs other duties as assigned
What You'll Need:
Basic knowledge of how to read Engineering drawings Ability to demonstrate job related computational knowledge — for example, be able to read a gauge, a decal blueprint, or a ruler. Must have good manual dexterity to operate equipment. Ability to learn or has basic railcar knowledge and experience through Trinity or another Railcar company. Ability to perform confined space monitoring and create hot work permits. Ability to pass any required disciplines and function specific certifications. Capable of writing BRC's Ability to learn or has basic railcar knowledge and ability to troubleshoot and problem solve for basic mechanical repairs. Ex. Removal and installation of gate systems. Application of basic mechanical parts. This position may require additional training certifications as required such as air brake testing, bubble leak testing of valves, and removal and repair of valve components. Ability to understand and perform all work outlined without supervision
