Heavy Equipment Field Mechanic (Independent Contractor) Danville, VA 24543 Contract Contract 1099 Heavy Equipment Field Mechanic (Independent Contractor)
Service Area:
Chatham, Martinsville, Stuart & Surrounding Southern Virginia We are seeking an experienced 1099 Heavy Equipment Field Mechanic to provide on-site repair and maintenance for our construction equipment fleet throughout Southern Virginia. This is an independent contractor position with steady work available for the right individual. Responsibilities Diagnose and repair heavy construction equipment in the field. Perform preventative maintenance and emergency breakdown repairs. Troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, diesel engine, powertrain, and undercarriage systems. Complete repairs safely and efficiently while minimizing equipment downtime. Communicate repair status, parts needs, and estimated completion times. Equipment Our fleet includes Komatsu, Caterpillar, Volvo, Peterbilt, and other heavy construction equipment. Requirements Minimum 5 years of heavy equipment repair experience. Strong diagnostic skills in hydraulic, electrical, diesel engine, and drivetrain systems. Must provide your own fully equipped service truck and tools . Must carry general liability insurance . Must carry workers' compensation insurance (or otherwise meet all applicable Virginia requirements for independent contractors). Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Ability to work independently and travel to job sites throughout the Chatham, Martinsville, Stuart, and surrounding Southern Virginia area. Compensation Submit hourly rate with application. 50-60 hours per week. Payment every 10 days upon invoice. Opportunity for a long-term working relationship.
