  • Posted on June 23, 2026 Published By Camille Baker Trillium Construction is seeking a Shop Heavy Equipment Mechanic / Diesel Mechanic near Richmond, VA. Key Responsibilities
  • Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on heavy equipment & fleet vehicles
  • Troubleshoot and repair diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, & mechanical components
  • Complete work orders and document repairs accurately
  • Coordinate repair priorities with the shop manager to minimize equipment downtime
  • Perform emergency repairs as needed to support field operations

  • Fri, some Saturdays, 50h+ / week Apply now! Qualifications
  • 1-3+ years of experience maintaining and repairing heavy construction equipment (open to training)
  • Experience with diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and preventative maintenance programs
  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues
  • Experience working on equipment such as excavators, dozers, loaders, skid steers, dump trucks, rollers, and support vehicles preferred
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work independently
  • Must be dependable, punctual, and safety-focused
  • Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation as needed
  • Experience supporting construction fleets is strongly preferred, as F.G. Pruitt operates a large site-development fleet throughout the Richmond area.
  • Candidates will most often be working on the following types of equipment: CAT, Deere, Komatsu, and Develon
