Job Description
Main Responsibilities of an Appliance Repair Technician Customer Service Visits Travel to customers' addresses at the scheduled appointment time. Follow the agreed schedule and notify the office/customer about any possible delays. Communicate with customers on-site in a polite and professional manner. Appliance Diagnostics Perform diagnostics of household appliance malfunctions. Inspect main components, electrical parts, mechanical systems, and control systems. Determine the cause of the issue and possible repair options. Appliance Repair Perform repairs on the following types of appliances: refrigerators; freezers; washing machines; dryers; dishwashers; ovens; ranges; cooktops; microwaves; other household appliances serviced by the company. Follow technical standards and safety procedures while performing repairs. Working with Technical Documentation Ability to read wiring diagrams, technical diagrams, and service manuals. Use manufacturer documentation for accurate diagnostics and repair. Work with error codes, service modes, and technical instructions. Parts Research and Selection Search for required parts using the appliance model and serial number. Work with supplier catalogs and official parts diagrams. Verify part compatibility before ordering. Compare prices, delivery times, and parts availability from suppliers. Parts Ordering and Tracking Order required parts through approved suppliers. Track order status, delivery dates, and parts availability. Inform the office or customer about parts status and estimated repair timelines. Repair Cost Approval Prepare and explain repair costs to the customer. Obtain approval before starting repair work. Explain the cause of the issue and the need for parts replacement when required. Preparing Estimates Prepare repair estimates. Include diagnostic fees, labor, parts, and additional services. Provide a clear description of the diagnosed issue and recommended repair. Work Documentation Enter diagnostic and repair information into the company's work system. Add photos, videos, and notes when necessary. Record used parts, completed work, and recommendations provided to the customer. Accuracy and Responsibility Treat the customer's property with care and respect. Keep the work area clean. Use protective materials when necessary. Test the appliance after completing the repair. Technical Knowledge and Development Continuously improve technical knowledge and skills. Learn new appliance models, technologies, and repair methods. Understand the operating principles of electrical, mechanical, refrigeration, and electronic systems. Communication with the Office and Customers Provide timely updates regarding job status. Notify the office about any additional work or parts needed. Maintain professional communication with customers and company team members. ⸻ Additional Technician Requirements Must have a personal vehicle for traveling to customer locations. Must have personal tools required for appliance diagnostics and repair. Must have valid insurance. Must have a valid EPA Certification for working with refrigeration equipment. Must be able to independently organize the workday and follow the schedule. Must be responsible with service calls, customers, equipment, and customer property. Must be willing to work as an independent contractor. ⸻ Payment Terms Payment is made under 1099. The technician works as an independent contractor. Compensation amount and payment terms are agreed separately depending on the completed work, type of service call, and agreement with the company.
