Job Description

Job Summary The HVAC Technician is responsible for the operation, inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, installation, and testing of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. This position ensures HVAC systems and related equipment operate safely, efficiently, and reliably to support facility operations and mission requirements. Work is performed in accordance with applicable codes, safety standards, manufacturer specifications, contract requirements, and company policies. Key Responsibilities Perform inspections, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and testing of HVAC systems and associated equipment. Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on air conditioning units, heating systems, ventilation systems, chillers, boilers, air handlers, pumps, motors, controls, and related equipment. Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and control system issues and implement appropriate corrective actions. Inspect HVAC systems to identify deficiencies, safety concerns, and maintenance requirements. Assist with the installation, replacement, modification, and upgrade of HVAC equipment and components as required. Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, technical manuals, and equipment specifications. Utilize diagnostic tools, gauges, meters, and testing equipment to evaluate system performance and identify system deficiencies. Respond to service calls, emergency repairs, and maintenance requests in a timely manner. Ensure compliance with applicable environmental regulations, safety requirements, and contract standards. Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, preventive maintenance activities, and work orders. Coordinate with supervisors, facility personnel, subcontractors, and other trades to support daily operations and project requirements. Operate company vehicles, lifts, and other equipment necessary to perform assigned duties. Maintain a clean and safe work environment and follow all company safety policies and procedures. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. EPA Section 608 Certification required. Minimum of 4 years of commercial, industrial, institutional, or facilities maintenance HVAC experience. Experience maintaining and repairing HVAC systems in federal, military, healthcare, educational, or large commercial facilities preferred. Working knowledge of HVAC controls, electrical components, mechanical systems, and preventive maintenance practices. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, technical documentation, and equipment specifications. Proficient in the use of HVAC diagnostic equipment, hand tools, and power tools. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record required. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, climb, and work in confined spaces for extended periods. Ability to climb ladders and work at elevated heights. Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds. Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Ability to safely perform maintenance and repair work around mechanical and electrical equipment. Work Schedule Full-time position with 8-hour shifts. Schedule may vary based on operational needs and may include overtime, weekends, holidays, or alternate schedules as required to support contract operations.
