Join our AC/DC Power Team as an Engineering Technician and play a hands-on role in validating and testing the adapters and power supplies that power our next-generation devices. You'll work alongside world-class engineers in a collaborative R D lab environment.

DescriptionAs an Engineering Technician for the AC/DC power team, you will aid in the validation, debug, and testing of adapters and PSUs. You will work with the evolving standards of USB-C Power Delivery (PD) and energy efficiency requirements to help power the next generation of Apple technology. You will collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to solve testing challenges and bring these innovations to market. This is an on-site, lab-based role requiring regular in-person presence.
Responsibilities:
Performing assembly, rework, and repair to PCB hardware as requested by engineering team members and management. Ensuring lab supplies and consumables are fully stocked for all lab users, and equipment is maintained in working orderOrganizing and regularly cleaning up the lab to ensure smooth lab operations.

Assembling test setups and conduct data collection.

Providing support at offsite labs for IEC 61000-x-x testing.

Working to resolve issues and identify areas for suggested improvement.

Actively maintaining Health and Safety compliance of lab spaces.

Facilitating and tracking lab and build materials.

Facilitating equipment repair and calibration.

Owning up additional duties as required.

Preferred QualificationsSoldering skills:
J-STD-001 / IPC-A-610
certification or better (focused on surface-mount micro-soldering rework)Experience with IEC 61000-x-x testsPython programming for test automation and data collection scripts3D printing for fabricating custom test fixtures and enclosures3D modeling experienceAbility to lift equipment weighing up to 35 pounds off the ground to waist height.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to communicate clearly with engineers and management on assigned tasks.

Strong sense of ownership and pride over your work deliverables.

Minimum Qualifications3 years of related experience or an Associate's degree with 2 years of experienceSolid understanding of electronic components such as resistors, inductors, capacitors, and diodesHands-on experience with electronic circuit board manual assembly and rework in an R D lab settingSkilled in using typical rework equipment such as soldering irons, heat guns, hot plates, reflow ovens, etcProficiency with configuring and operating electrical test equipment such as oscilloscopes, DMM, power supplies, etc. and must be able to actively work in a lab environmentAbility to follow rework instructions provided by engineeringAbility to identify correct components and component values to use for rework based on the engineer's requestAbility to rework BGA/LGA ICs and modules and passive componentsPay & BenefitsAt Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $39.22 and $67.32/hr, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
