WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We are seeking a technically strong and experienced Technical Product Manager to oversee the engineering, certification, and documentation lifecycle of our HVAC product portfolio. The ideal candidate has deep hands-on experience in product certification, regulatory compliance, and technical documentation — with particular expertise in residential and related HVAC systems. This role serves as the engineering authority over product compliance and technical integrity, while also coordinating across product development, quality, and cross-functional teams to bring compliant, market-ready products to life.Responsibilities:
Lead and oversee all product certification activities through nationally recognized testing laboratories (NRTLs) and certification agencies, ensuring timely and compliant approvals Serve as the primary engineering authority for product compliance in the North American market, including UL, ETL, CSA, AHRI, and DOE certification programs Manage and mentor the certification engineering team, reviewing submissions, test plans, and agency correspondence for accuracy and completeness Monitor and interpret changes to federal, state, and certification agency regulations and standards, and direct the team in implementing appropriate responses Oversee submission of efficiency and safety testing documentation in compliance with federal regulations and applicable certification requirements Maintain and manage certification status tracking systems and regulatory change reports across the entire product portfolio Coordinate with KD Navien HQ engineering teams on product compliance requirements for North American market entry Direct and oversee product testing programs for certification, product development, and quality assurance — including AHRI 210/240, DOE, and safety standard test procedures Review and approve test plans, test reports, and supporting engineering data before submission to agencies or internal stakeholders Coordinate with NRTLs and third-party test laboratories to schedule, manage, and witness certification testing activities Lead root cause analysis and engineering investigations for product performance or compliance failures identified during testing or field deployment Support product quality teams with technical guidance on HVAC system diagnostics and corrective action planning Own the review, approval, and release process for all product technical documentation, including installation manuals, service manuals, specification sheets, submittal documents, and engineering guides Direct the creation and maintenance of OEM/ODM technical documentation packages, including product customization specifications and compliance records Manage and maintain the master library of certification records, test reports, agency correspondence, and product compliance documentation Provide senior engineering input into new product development programs, including design reviews, compliance feasibility assessments, and certification planning Provide technical leadership and engineering guidance to sales, marketing, and training teams on product compliance, specifications, and capabilities Represent the engineering team at trade shows, customer-facing events, and industry meetings as a subject matter expertRequirements:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline 7-10 years of experience in HVAC product engineering, with significant focus on certification and regulatory compliance Demonstrated experience managing product certification programs through UL, ETL, CSA, AHRI, DOE, or equivalent agencies Strong working knowledge ofAHRI 210/240
test procedures and DOE efficiency certification requirements Proven experience reviewing and approving technical documentation including manuals, specification sheets, and test reports Hands-on experience in a laboratory or product testing environment Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor engineering teams Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical content clearly to executive, regulatory, and customer audiences Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with document management and revision control systems Ability to travel approximately 20% domestically, with up to 5% international travelPreferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in Engineering or related field Experience withAHRI 210/240 AEDM
