HVAC Helper — Job Description Iris Mechanical Inc. | San Jose & Bay Area Job Summary Iris Mechanical Inc. is hiring an experienced and motivated HVAC Helper to support our installation crews on residential HVAC projects throughout San Jose and the Bay Area. This is a hands-on field position for someone who already has basic HVAC or construction experience and wants to grow into an HVAC Installer. You will assist with heat pump, mini-split, furnace, ductwork, ventilation, and basic electrical installation work. Duties Assist HVAC installers with residential HVAC installations, replacements, and upgrades. Help install ductwork, registers, grilles, exhaust ducts, line sets, condensate drains, disconnects, and equipment pads. Assist with heat pump, mini-split, furnace, air handler, and water-heater-related HVAC work. Carry, stage, organize, and safely use HVAC tools, materials, and equipment. Help with basic electrical work under supervision, including wiring disconnects, thermostats, low-voltage controls, and equipment connections. Support refrigerant line-set installation, insulation, pressure testing, evacuation, and startup preparation under supervision. Read basic plans, measurements, and installation instructions. Keep the job site clean, organized, and safe throughout the project. Communicate professionally with the lead installer, team members, and customers. Follow company procedures, safety requirements, and California job-site standards. Requirements Previous HVAC, construction, plumbing, electrical, or mechanical experience is required. Basic understanding of HVAC installation work, ductwork, hand tools, and job-site safety. Must have basic personal tools suitable for an HVAC helper position. Ability to lift equipment and materials and work in attics, crawlspaces, rooftops, garages, and outdoor conditions. Reliable transportation and a valid California driver's license preferred. Must be punctual, responsible, physically capable, and able to follow instructions. Willingness to learn and grow into an HVAC Installer role. EPA 608 certification is a plus, but not required. Compensation Pay is based on experience and will be discussed during the interview.
Pay:
$25.00 - $35.00 per hour
