Residential HVAC Lead Installer

Job Overview R.B. Spencer, Inc. is currently seeking a motivated and skilled Lead HVAC Installer to join our growing team in Yuba City, CA. Since 1984, we have provided high-quality heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration services to the Yuba-Sutter area. In this role, you will be the primary onsite leader responsible for the high-quality installation of residential HVAC systems. You will guide a team to ensure every job meets manufacturer specifications, local safety codes, and our own rigorous standards for excellence.

Key Responsibilities Onsite Leadership:

Lead a dedicated installation crew, providing clear direction, mentoring apprentices, and ensuring the team maintains a professional and efficient workspace.

System Installation:

Oversee and perform the installation of indoor and outdoor units, including furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, and coils.

Technical Execution:

Install ductwork, copper refrigerant lines (brazing/soldering), and both low and line-voltage wiring with precision.

System Start-up & Testing:

Conduct comprehensive system diagnostics, check for leaks, and calibrate thermostats to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.

Quality Control:

Read and interpret technical schematics and blueprints to ensure precise system setup according to HVAC design plans.

Customer Communication:

Act as the primary point of contact for homeowners, explaining system operations and ensuring the property is left clean and the customer is satisfied.

Project Documentation:

Accurately complete all job-related paperwork, commission reports, and maintain inventory on company vehicles.

Qualifications Experience:

Proven experience in residential HVAC installation is required, with a strong preference for individuals who have previously served in a lead or senior technician capacity.

Certifications:

EPA Section 608 certification is required. NATE certification or knowledge of ammonia refrigeration systems is a major plus.

Technical Skills:

Strong mechanical knowledge of HVAC design principles, plumbing, and refrigeration systems. Proficiency with diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters and refrigeration gauges.

Requirements:

Must have a valid driver's license, a clean driving record, and the ability to pass a drug test and background check.

Physical Ability:

Able to lift up to 50-75 lbs and work in confined spaces like attics or crawl spaces. Why Join R.B. Spencer?
