Job Summary:
Reporting to the Supervisor of Utilities, this position supports the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of campus HVAC and mechanical systems through routine inspection, preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and equipment repair. Working under supervision, the role maintains building mechanical systems, monitors performance, and identifies deficiencies or needed repairs. This position includes a structured, four-year training program designed to develop the knowledge and technical skills required to achieve HVAC Journeyman status. This includes a combination of hands-on experience and formal vocational training to build proficiency across mechanical, electrical, and automated building systems. This role supports the mission of Regis University by helping maintain a safe, comfortable, and reliable campus environment where students, faculty, staff, and visitors can learn, teach, work, and grow. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to communicate clearly with diverse groups, as well as to think critically in problem-solving situations, and will demonstrate a commitment to safety and teamwork.Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform preventative maintenance on HVAC systems, including filters, belts, coils, refrigerant levels, and electrical components Inspect, maintain, and repair ventilation and exhaust fan systems, including motors, dampers, and controls Conduct inspections and maintenance on air-handling and air-moving equipment (e.g., VAV boxes, sensors, dampers, coils) Service and maintain campus pump systems, including inspection, repair, and alignment Perform routine boiler inspections, blowdowns, and monitor safety and water treatment systems Inspect chillers, document deficiencies, and report maintenance needs Diagnose system issues and complete timely repairs or replacements across mechanical systems Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance, and repairs Identify and recommend deferred maintenance and repair projectsRequired Qualifications:
Highschool diploma or GED Attendance at an HVAC or Electrical trade school OR 2 years in an HVAC or Electrical trades position with on-the-job training. Proven aptitude through documented work experience may be substituted for either of these. Possession of a valid Colorado driver's license, as off-campus travel will be necessary. Driving record must meet Regis University insurance carrier requirements Minimum of (2) years' experience in HVAC, or other related mechanical utilities installation fabrication or other maintenance or related trade Must be able to use computer software to review, adjust and update information Preferred Qualifications (Not necessary, but nice to have): Certificate of completion, or an associate's degree from an accredited HVAC or similar trade school. City and County of Denver HVAC journeyman license 4 years of experience in HVAC or other mechanical tradesWorking Conditions:
