We are looking for an experienced HVAC professional who is ready to step out of the heavy field rotation and step into a vital leadership and mentorship role to guide our installation team to the next level. Position Overview The HVAC Installation Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations, quality control, and safety of our residential installation department. This role is designed for a veteran HVAC technician who possesses extensive hands-on field experience but is looking to transition into a strategic, office-and-site leadership role. The ideal candidate has a genuine passion for teaching, enjoys sharing their deep industry knowledge, and is motivated by developing the skills of apprentices and junior installers. You will be the technical backbone, the coach, and the operational leader of our installation division. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Mentorship (The "Teaching" Core)
Train and Coach:
Design and lead hands-on and classroom training sessions for installers and apprentices, focusing on technical skills, safety protocols, and customer service.
Mentor Talent:
Act as a technical resource and advisor, providing constructive feedback and guiding junior team members through complex installation challenges.
Cultivate Culture:
Foster a positive, collaborative, and growth-oriented team environment centered on continuous improvement and pride in workmanship.
Operations & Quality Control Oversee Installations:
Conduct pre- and post-installation quality checks to ensure all work meets local codes, manufacturer specifications, and company standards. Supervise the
Fleet:
Manage the installation schedule, dispatching teams efficiently and ensuring jobs are completed on time and within budget.
Problem Solve:
Provide over-the-phone or occasional on-site technical support to troubleshoot complex installation hurdles (without being the primary muscle on the job).
Inventory & Fleet Management:
Coordinate with inventory and purchasing to ensure teams have the correct equipment, parts, and tools loaded and ready for every job.
Customer & Administrative Management Customer Relations:
Address and resolve any escalated customer inquiries or concerns regarding installations with professionalism and empathy.
Process Improvement:
Standardize installation procedures, build checklist systems, and continuously improve department efficiency.
Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of job costs, materials used, callbacks, and technician performance metrics.
Qualifications & Skills Experience:
Minimum of 8-10 years of hands-on Residential HVAC installation and service experience (required).
Licensing:
Relevant EPA certifications (Universal preferred) and a strong understanding of local mechanical, electrical, and gas codes.
Leadership Drive:
Proven track record of informally or formally leading, training, or mentoring others in the field.
Communication:
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to break down complex technical concepts into easy-to-understand lessons.
Physical Transition:
Ability to transition into an environment that is roughly 70% operational/administrative/coaching and 30% site visits/quality checks (minimal heavy lifting or prolonged tool time required).
Tech Savvy:
Comfortable utilizing or learning dispatching software, tablets, and basic Microsoft Office/Google Workspace applications. (Not mandatory but preferred.) Boiler Experience. At least some experience with boilers.
Driver's License:
