Fort Lauderdale, FL Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Estimator to join our growing team in Fort Lauderdale, FL . This role is responsible for preparing accurate, competitive, and timely estimates for complex commercial HVAC and mechanical retrofit projects . Commercial HVAC experience is a must. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in both estimating and field operations, bringing practical, real-world knowledge to every project. You'll play a key role in estimating high-profile mechanical projects across healthcare, hospitality, high-rise condominiums, commercial buildings, and other occupied facilities. This position is ideal for someone who understands not only how to price a project, but also how it will be successfully executed in the field. Key Responsibilities Project Estimating & Takeoffs Review mechanical drawings, blueprints, and project specifications to prepare detailed labor, material, and equipment estimates. Perform accurate quantity takeoffs for commercial HVAC and mechanical piping replacement projects. Develop competitive bids while maintaining profitability and project feasibility. Commercial HVAC Retrofit Expertise Evaluate existing building conditions and mechanical spaces to identify access challenges, rigging requirements, shutdown sequencing, and other retrofit considerations.

Prepare estimates for:

Chiller replacements Boiler replacements Cooling towers Air Handling Units (AHUs) Rooftop Units (RTUs) Pumping systems Mechanical piping systems Central plant upgrades Bid Management Utilize Procore to manage bidding documents, RFIs, submittals, and preconstruction documentation. Track bid opportunities and ensure timely proposal submissions. Vendor & Subcontractor Coordination Solicit and evaluate pricing from equipment manufacturers, vendors, and specialty subcontractors. Negotiate pricing while maintaining quality and project schedules. Project Collaboration Partner closely with Project Managers, Field Superintendents, Foremen, Engineering, and Operations teams to ensure a seamless transition from estimating through project execution. Participate in scope reviews and preconstruction meetings as needed. Qualifications Required Experience Commercial HVAC experience is required. Minimum of 3 years of Mechanical/HVAC estimating experience with a strong emphasis on commercial retrofit and replacement projects. Minimum of 5 years of hands-on field experience as an HVAC Technician, Mechanical Pipefitter, Foreman, or Field Supervisor is highly preferred. Experience estimating projects in occupied facilities including: Hospitals and healthcare facilities Hotels and hospitality High-rise condominiums Commercial office buildings Industrial facilities Technical Skills Strong understanding of commercial mechanical systems including: Chilled water systems Condenser water systems Steam and hot water boiler systems Cooling towers HVAC piping systems Experience with Procore (Bidding, RFIs, and Submittals). Experience with FastPIPE or similar mechanical estimating software is highly preferred. Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and engineering documents.
