Job Description
Position Summary The Residential HVAC Service Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and servicing residential heating and air conditioning systems. This position requires strong troubleshooting skills, technical knowledge, and a customer-focused attitude while ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with manufacturer specifications and local codes. Essential Responsibilities Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain residential HVAC systems, including air conditioners, heat pumps, furnaces, air handlers, package units, and mini-split systems. Perform preventive maintenance inspections and recommend repairs when necessary. Accurately identify electrical, refrigeration, airflow, drainage, and mechanical issues. Repair or replace defective components including compressors, motors, capacitors, contactors, control boards, thermostats, expansion devices, and other system components. Verify proper refrigerant charge, airflow, electrical operation, static pressure, and overall system performance. Educate homeowners on system operation, maintenance, indoor air quality products, and repair or replacement options. Document all diagnostic findings, repairs performed, recommendations, and customer interactions using company software. Maintain accurate truck inventory and ensure company tools and equipment remain clean and organized. Follow all EPA regulations, manufacturer installation and service procedures, OSHA safety standards, and company policies. Respond to emergency service calls, rotating on-call schedules, and after-hours service as assigned. Communicate professionally with customers, dispatch, and management regarding job status and additional repair needs. Maintain a clean and professional appearance while representing the company. Qualifications Minimum 3 years of residential HVAC service experience preferred. EPA Section 608 Certification required. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Strong understanding of refrigeration cycles, electrical diagnostics, airflow, combustion, and HVAC controls. Ability to read wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals. Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities. Strong communication and customer service skills. Ability to work independently while managing multiple service calls throughout the day. Physical Requirements Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds. Ability to climb ladders and work on rooftops, in attics, crawl spaces, and confined areas. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including extreme heat and humidity. Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, climb, and stand for extended periods. Preferred Qualifications NATE Certification. Experience servicing Lennox, Trane, Carrier, Daikin, Rheem, and other major residential HVAC brands. Experience using ServiceTitan or similar field service software. Knowledge of Florida Mechanical Code and residential HVAC best practices. Performance Expectations Maintain a high first-time repair rate. Complete service calls efficiently while delivering exceptional customer service. Accurately diagnose equipment failures and recommend appropriate repair solutions. Maintain complete and accurate service documentation. Safely operate company vehicles and maintain truck inventory. Consistently meet company standards for professionalism, communication, and workmanship. Participate in ongoing technical training and safety meetings to remain current with industry advancements. $60,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
