Technician Certification Full Job Description Nichols Contracting, Inc. (NCI) is a family-owned and operated Construction and Contracting business headquartered in Columbia, MD with offices in Richmond VA, Royal Palm Beach and Orlando FL with a team of 170 plus employees. NCI is a full-service general contractor focused on providing premier services in all aspects of the construction process, from concept to completion. We manage a broad range of commercial construction projects, including new construction, tenant fit outs, and renovations. NCI services a diverse group of markets including federal, state, and local governments, as well as a variety of corporate and special industry organizations that require complex life safety and critical infrastructure needs. Nichols Contracting is seeking a skilled and dependable HVAC Technician to join our team. The HVAC Technician will be responsible for installing, inspecting, maintaining, and repairing heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems for residential and/or commercial customers. The ideal candidate takes pride in quality workmanship, delivers excellent customer service, and works well independently or as part of a team.
Essential Functions:
Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC systems including furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, and ductwork- mini splits and portable Acs will be primary source of installation. Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues using appropriate testing devices Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure optimal system performance Ensure all work complies with local codes, safety standards, and manufacturer specifications Communicate clearly with customers regarding system issues, repair options, and preventative care Complete work orders and service documentation accurately and on time Maintain tools, equipment, and service vehicles in good working condition Participate in on‑call rotation and emergency service calls as required
Desired Skills and Competencies:
High school diploma or GED required HVAC certification or technical school training preferred EPA Section 608 Certification required Minimum [3] years of hands‑on HVAC experience Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in confined spaces or varying weather conditions
