  • Performs multi-skilled work in the construction, renovation, and maintenance of various facilities and equipment.
This is a "mandatory-testing" position that requires Drug Testing.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Serves as a lead to lower-level staff by prioritizing and assigning work, training staff on work methods and procedures, and performing other related activities Identifies, troubleshoots, tests, adjusts, and repairs problems related to facilities, machines, mechanical devices, electrical systems, plumbing, utilities, facilities, fixtures, and/or specialized equipment and associated systems in assigned area of responsibility Monitors, checks, and performs preventive maintenance activities to applicable fixtures, equipment, and/or associated systems to ensure continued and uninterrupted operation Operates a variety of specialized tools and equipment in performing repair and maintenance activities Prepares and maintains a variety of logs, records, work orders, and/or other related documentation Prepares information related to the procurement of parts and services as associated with HVAC or other equipment Installs or supervises the installation of equipment, light fixtures, and/or other applicable items; disassembles and reassembles equipment to replace worn and/or faulty parts Performs a variety of HVAC, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and/or welding activities in support of building and installing a variety of structures and equipment Hauls and operates medium to heavy equipment, as required, in the accomplishment of assigned tasks Prepares facility for special events depending on specific requirements Repairs and operates Building Management Systems (BMS), devices, and control electronics. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level
TYPICAL QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualification Requirements:
Training and Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) and up to 3 years of specialized or technical training beyond high school and five years of experience in area of specialty; or, a combination of education and experience equivalent to these requirements.
Licenses and Certifications:
Must possess a valid driver's license from state of residence Class-A HVAC License from the State of Florida (Class A License allows you to work on any size HVAC system) or Class-B License from the State of Florida (Class B License limits work to systems with cooling capacity of 25 tons or less and heating systems with a capacity of 500,000 BTUs or less) Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics (KSAOs): applicable tools and equipment of the trade general maintenance principles, methods, and techniques performing mathematical calculations hauling and operating medium to heavy size equipment performing general labor and maintenance in assigned area of responsibility operating applicable tools, equipment, and machinery preparing and maintaining basic records reading and comprehending manuals, specifications, drawings, and blueprints communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction

Emergency Management Responsibilities:
During emergency conditions, the incumbent of this position will automatically be considered an emergency service worker. This employee is subject to being called to work in the event of a disaster, such as a hurricane, or other emergency situation and is expected to perform emergency service duties, as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
Positions in this class typically require: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, finger and hand dexterity, as well as repetitive motions.
Very Heavy Work:
Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts, gases, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, and intense noises.
