Job Description

Position Summary A Commercial HVAC Journeyman installs, services, maintains, and repairs heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems in commercial and industrial buildings. This role requires strong troubleshooting and electrical systems, and the ability to work independently or lead small crews on job sites. Key Responsibilities Install commercial HVAC equipment including rooftop units, split systems, chillers, boilers, package units, and ventilation systems Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration-related issues Perform preventive maintenance inspections and system testing Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings Braze, solder, pipe-fit, and connect refrigerant lines Troubleshoot controls, thermostats, motors, compressors, and building automation systems Ensure systems comply with local codes, OSHA regulations, and manufacturer specifications Maintain accurate service records, work orders, and refrigerant logs Communicate with customers, contractors, and project managers regarding repairs and system performance Train or assist apprentices and junior technicians when needed Required Skills & Qualifications Journeyman-level HVAC experience in commercial or industrial environments Strong systems, airflow, and controls Ability to use diagnostic tools, meters, gauges, and hand/power tools EPA Section 608 Certification required Valid driver's license and reliable transportation Ability to lift heavy equipment and work in confined spaces, rooftops, and varying weather conditions Strong problem-solving and customer service skills Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Preferred Qualifications State Journeyman HVAC license Experience with chillers, VRF systems, BAS controls, or refrigeration systems OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification crews or coordinating projects Compensation & Benefits Competitive above scale union scale hourly wage to correct candidate.
