Job Title:
HVAC Technician Job Description This role focuses on troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing HVAC systems across a college campus. You will ensure the safe and efficient operation of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and boiler systems while performing both corrective and preventive maintenance. The position offers a stable, long-term opportunity with a flexible first-shift schedule and all necessary tools and personal protective equipment provided. Responsibilities Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair HVAC units throughout the college campus, including heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and boiler systems. Perform routine preventive maintenance on HVAC equipment to ensure reliable and efficient operation. Install, service, and maintain HVAC components and related mechanical systems as needed. Inspect and test electrical and mechanical components of HVAC systems to identify issues and implement effective solutions. Respond promptly to service requests and work orders to minimize system downtime. Use provided tools and personal protective equipment safely and correctly while performing all tasks. Document maintenance and repair activities accurately and maintain clear records of work performed. Follow established safety procedures, campus guidelines, and company policies at all times. Collaborate with other maintenance and service personnel to support overall facility operations. Demonstrate consistent attendance, punctuality, and reliability in covering the assigned shift. Essential Skills 3-5 years of experience in HVAC troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance, preferably in a similar facilities or campus environment. Strong hands-on skills in HVAC systems, including air conditioning, heating, ventilation, and boiler operations. Proficiency in troubleshooting mechanical issues in HVAC equipment. Experience with installation, repair, and service of HVAC units and related systems. Ability to perform preventive maintenance on HVAC systems to prevent failures and extend equipment life. Basic electrical skills related to HVAC systems, including safe work practices around electrical components. Valid CFC certification or universal HVAC license. High level of motivation and a strong work ethic. Excellent attention to detail when diagnosing issues and completing repairs. Reliable attendance and dependability in maintaining the assigned work schedule. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working as a maintenance technician or service technician in a facilities environment. Familiarity with campus or institutional maintenance contracts. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Effective communication skills to interact with facility staff and team members. All tools and personal protective equipment are provided, ensuring you have the equipment needed to perform your work safely and effectively. The environment involves hands-on work with HVAC, mechanical, electrical, and boiler systems in an operational campus setting, requiring movement between indoor and outdoor areas and adherence to campus safety and facility guidelines. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Savannah, GA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $38.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
