Residential Service Technician - J.A. Job Summary The HVAC Service Technician will be responsible for all aspects of maintenance, inspection, operation, and repair of heating and cooling systems in residential buildings. HVAC Service Technicians will primarily respond to service calls but will also do planned maintenance and/or installation as needed. Our company offers on-the-job training and a potential for wage increases due to increased skill determined by your Department Team Leader through evaluation and/or assessment. Starting pay is determined upon skills and experience. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following: Serving the clients by expertly servicing customers' entire needs. Wear floor savers while in the client's home and maintain a neat work area when performing a repair or scheduled service. Always explain to the client what service you are performing. Explain and show the client how the company provides superior service. Maintain, and repair heating and cooling systems. Inspect and test components of systems to ensure they are operable and safe. Establish rapport with clients to sell the right products and services. Never offer the customer something they do not need. Re-check all repairs and installations after you've repaired or replaced it, before leaving the client's home to ensure everything is working properly and the client knows how to operate the system properly. Perform a proper inspection of the client's entire HVAC system. Look for ways to prevent future breakdowns. Properly use the Pricing Guide, providing 3 options for clients on every call. Understand your sales criteria and hold yourself accountable for exceeding revenue goals. $22K in revenue a month per Service and/or Maintenance technician. Service Call goal must be a minimum of 285 or above, per technician. Maintenance Call must be a minimum of 130 or above, per technician. Callbacks must be below 6 a month per technician. A minimum of 12 Comfort Clubs must be sold per month by each technician (and maintaining a 90% renewal rate). Maintain your truck so that it is always neat and clean on the inside and outside. The truck is one of the best billboards that the company has. Park the truck for the maximum impact of the "billboard" when possible. Maintain a clean, organized job site before, during and after the job is completed. Maintain a company standard which includes dressing in the service dept company uniform, no decals on hats other than the company branding or logo, company branded jackets only, and always present yourself in a professional manner. Always be safety conscious both on the job and while driving. Participate actively in all training exercises, morning meetings, all staff meetings, etc. Assist with training for maintenance and service techs as needed. Adhere to, and display the companies Mission Statement, Vision Statement and Core Values. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma/GED required, Associate degree preferred but not required, Must be a self-starter and reliable. Must have own tools. Must exhibit excellent customer service. Must have an HVAC Apprentice Card. Must have an EPA Certification Card. Must be able to pass a Drug Test, background check and have a passable driving record according to the company's auto insurance requirements. Excellent interpersonal communication skills on a technical level. Able to work both independently and as part of a team. General knowledge of power tools and techniques for care and safe use. Possesses ability for great detail. Thoroughness. Must have 1.5 to 2 years of experience in the HVAC industry. Must be able to be flexible with hours as it pertains to rotation on the on-call schedule.
Physical Demands:
Climbing up and down on ladders. Heavy lifting required 50-75+ pounds, ladder work and tight space work required from time to time. Ability to pick-up a minimum of 25 pounds consistently and carry up to 250 feet unassisted. Operate handheld power tools. Wear personal protective equipment as needed. Ability to work more than 40 hours per work week and up to 12 hours per day.
Working Environment:
Work both indoors and outdoors. Would be exposed to very hot or very cold temperatures. Will be in proximity to hazardous conditions, equipment, and situations. Wear safety attire, such as goggles, or other protective clothing as needed. Could be exposed to sounds and noise levels that are uncomfortable and distracting. Will be exposed to very bright or inadequate lighting conditions. Ability to climb ladders and work from roofs and scaffolding. Must be able to work in cramped workplaces, such as crawl spaces under floors. 5+ years experience as an HVAC residential service technician. Must have a valid driver license and clean driving history. Able to pass a background and drug screening Competencies Ability to work independently in a timely manner, making sure job is done correctly the first time. Must have excellent organizational skills. Must have good oral and written communications skills. Observe all company procedures and safety rules. Work as part of our team to ensure customer satisfaction. Able to work in a fast-paced environment. Must have basic computer skills and be able to utilize mobile device throughout the work day.
