HVAC Journeyman

Boise Valley Heating & Air - Treasure Valley, Idaho Position Overview Boise Valley Heating & Air is seeking an experienced HVAC Journeyman to join our growing team. This role is primarily focused on residential new construction projects throughout the Treasure Valley, with opportunities to assist in retrofit replacements and light commercial work as needed. We are looking for a skilled technician who takes pride in clean installations, understands proper airflow and system design, and can execute high-quality work that meets code and builder expectations. Key Responsibilities Install complete HVAC systems in new residential construction projects including: Furnaces Heat pumps Air conditioners Duct systems Venting systems Line sets and refrigerant piping Perform rough-in, top-out, and trim phases according to construction schedules Set and start up equipment with proper charging, airflow verification, and system commissioning Interpret blueprints, mechanical plans, and load calculations (Manual J/S/D preferred) Ensure proper duct design, static pressure management, and airflow balance Coordinate with builders, project managers, electricians, and gas contractors Troubleshoot and resolve installation-related issues in the field Maintain clean, organized, and professional job sites Follow Idaho mechanical code and company installation standards Assist with retrofit replacements and service support when needed Qualifications Journeyman HVAC license (Idaho preferred) Minimum 3-5 years of hands-on HVAC installation experience Strong background in residential new construction Solid understanding of: Refrigeration cycle and charging procedures Duct design and airflow Gas piping fundamentals Heat pump operation and defrost cycles Ability to read and interpret blueprints and mechanical schematics Experience with high-efficiency systems and modern controls Strong troubleshooting skills Valid driver's license with clean driving record Ability to work independently and lead apprentices when necessary What We're Looking For Strong work ethic and reliability Pride in craftsmanship and attention to detail Team-first mindset Ability to meet deadlines in fast-paced subdivision environments Professional communication with builders and homeowners What We Offer Competitive pay based on experience Year-round steady work Opportunities for advancement as the company grows Supportive team culture Company vehicle (for qualified candidates) Paid time off and holidays Ongoing training and development At Boise Valley Heating & Air, we are building more than HVAC systems, we are building long-term relationships with builders and homeowners across the Treasure Valley. $28.00 - $40.00 per hour
