HVAC SERVICE MANAGER
Bickle Electric Heating & Cooling Co., Inc. 4795 Section Line Road Edwardsville, IL 62025 Position Summary The HVAC Service Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing the daily operations of the HVAC Service Department. This position ensures exceptional customer service, technician performance, profitability, quality workmanship, safety compliance, and departmental growth. The Service Manager will coach and develop technicians, improve operational efficiency, maintain strong customer relationships, and help grow the service department while upholding the reputation of Bickle Electric Heating & Cooling Co., Inc. for honesty, professionalism, and quality workmanship. Leadership & Team Management Lead, mentor, and develop HVAC service technicians. Conduct regular ride-alongs and field evaluations. Recruit, interview, and onboard new technicians. Conduct performance reviews. Maintain employee accountability and performance standards. Foster a positive, safety-focused work environment. Service Operations Oversee daily scheduling and dispatch coordination. Monitor technician productivity and efficiency. Review completed work orders for accuracy. Ensure all service calls meet company quality standards. Maintain appropriate technician staffing levels. Assist with difficult diagnostics and technical support. Financial Responsibilities Manage departmental profitability. Monitor labor efficiency and billable hours. Review pricing and gross profit margins. Control warranty expenses. Reduce callback percentages. Assist with annual budgeting and forecasting. Monitor truck inventory and equipment costs. Customer Service Resolve customer concerns professionally. Ensure excellent customer satisfaction. Handle escalated service issues. Review customer feedback and implement improvements. Build long-term customer relationships. Sales & Business Development Coach technicians on service agreement sales. Promote indoor air quality products. Increase replacement lead generation. Support maintenance agreement growth. Identify opportunities to improve service revenue. Technical Oversight Stay current on HVAC technologies. Ensure compliance with manufacturer requirements. Monitor installation and repair quality. Maintain EPA and safety compliance. Assist technicians with advanced troubleshooting. Safety & Compliance Enforce company safety policies. Conduct regular safety meetings. Ensure OSHA compliance. Maintain fleet safety standards. Monitor PPE usage. Investigate accidents and implement corrective actions. Required Qualifications Minimum 7 years HVAC service experience. Minimum 3 years in a supervisory or management role. Strong residential and light commercial HVAC knowledge. EPA Universal Certification. Valid driver's license. Excellent communication and leadership skills. Computer proficiency. Ability to read blueprints and wiring diagrams. Excellent organizational skills.
