After a quick safety huddle, you review work orders: a boiler inspection, an HVAC diagnostic, and a controls-related electrical repair. You weld a bracket to stabilize a pump mount, then head to the Storeroom to receive parts against purchase orders, update bin cards and requisitions, and queue a purchase requisition for approval. Throughout the evening, you log records in alignment with cGMP and ISO procedures, follow lockout/tagout for energized work, and coordinate with production to stock maintenance inventory and supplies. Before clocking out, you document everything clearly and leave the workspace spotless. Role snapshot

Training:
Split shift for the first 2 weeks; hours may change per the Union bid system
Employment:
Direct hire, full-time
Compensation:
$36.41/hour + $0.75 shift differential + bonus (bi-weekly pay schedule); moves to $37.41/hour in July 2026 What you'll take on Execute a broad range of repairs and installations across boilers, HVAC, electrical distribution, control systems, and mechanical equipment Perform welding operations for installation and repair of equipment Operate the Storeroom under supervisor direction: receive parts/tools/labels/supplies, verify against purchase orders, maintain bin cards and issue files, and generate purchase requisitions for approval Maintain written/electronic records as required by management (cGMP and ISO); keep Storeroom and adjacent areas clean Operate moving equipment with extreme care; prioritize the safety of others and protect property Follow hazardous permitted procedures at all times, including lockout/tagout, confined space entry, and fall protection When needed, remove accumulated hazardous wastes from work areas and transport to the hazardous waste storage area Stock maintenance inventory and production supplies Support a wide range of construction and repair tasks across the plant Demonstrate a strong safety record and solid troubleshooting ability What you bring Required 5+ years of industrial plant maintenance experience in a single craft or multi-craft capacity Associate degree in Industrial Technology or Industrial Maintenance (or 10+ years relevant experience with High School Diploma/GED in lieu of the degree) Ability to read and understand written instructions, safety labels, manuals, and schematics Core math, writing, and data entry proficiency Proven skill across advanced maintenance disciplines: industrial electronics, welding, pipe fitting, carpentry, shop machine operation, pump and boiler repair, and HVAC (via education or experience) Capability to perform basic rescue and life-saving functions when serving as safety backup; company-provided CPR training/certification—must be willing and able to comply Preferred Stationary Engineering (Boiler) Certification HVAC Certification Exceptional troubleshooting/repair skills in Boilers, HVAC Systems, Lathes, and Fabrication Experience working cross-functionally with diverse teams Background with Instrumentation Controls How you work Reliable communicator who can coordinate with stakeholders at all levels Self-directed; comfortable working with minimal supervision Access all parts of production equipment, including confined spaces, ceiling-mounted units, pits, and tight-access machinery—climb and crawl as needed Good hand-eye coordination Move, carry, and lift ~70 lbs; climb to ~30 ft; walk and stand for extended periods Wear appropriate PPE consistently Safely use forklifts, scissor lifts, shop equipment, power tools, various welders, and hoists; climb ladders and narrow stairs with care Why STERIS Benefits kick in after 45 days.
