Job Description

ABM is seeking an entry-level HVAC Project Technician I to support project-based HVAC work at commercial and facility sites. This role assists senior technicians with HVAC installations, replacements, retrofits, repairs, preventive maintenance projects, and system upgrades. This is a hands-on developmental role for someone building a career in HVAC while working as part of a project team.

Military Occupational Specialty Code:
91E, 91C, EM, HT, MK, DC, 1161, 1341, 3E1X1 High school diploma or GED 2+ years of HVAC, mechanical, maintenance, construction, facilities, or related trade experience EPA 608 certification Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn. Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, ladders, meters, and basic HVAC equipment. Ability to lift and carry tools, parts, and materials as required. Comfortable working on rooftops, in mechanical rooms, and at active job sites.
Preferred:
HVAC trade school, technical training, or apprenticeship coursework.
OSHA10 & 30
Basic knowledge of HVAC systems, electrical safety, refrigeration, or commercial facilities. Assist the lead and senior technicians with HVAC project work, including equipment changeouts, repairs, maintenance, and system modifications. Prepare job sites by staging tools, materials, parts, and equipment. Perform basic HVAC tasks such as filter changes, belt replacements, coil cleaning, drain cleaning, equipment cleaning, and visual inspections. Help install, remove, and replace HVAC components, including motors, fans, belts, filters, sensors, thermostats, dampers, piping, and related parts. Support troubleshooting by taking readings, observing equipment operation, documenting findings, and reporting issues. Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas. Follow project plans, work orders, safety procedures, and direction from lead technicians or supervisors. Complete basic documentation, including job notes, photos, readings, materials used, and task updates.
