HVAC Helper Pay $15-$20/ hr depending on experience/certifications Heating and Air Co. - Serving Avery and Watauga Counties, NC Haskell Heating and Air Co., the leading HVAC contractor in the High Country of North Carolina, is seeking a motivated and reliable HVAC Helper to support our team in the installation, service, and repair of residential and light commercial HVAC systems. This role offers an excellent opportunity to learn and grow in the HVAC field, working alongside experienced technicians on a variety of projects, including new construction installations, HVAC repairs, and system changeouts, with a focus on high-efficiency equipment and Mitsubishi mini-split systems. We proudly serve areas such as Banner Elk, Newland, Beech Mountain, Boone, Foscoe, Seven Devils, and surrounding communities. : Assist experienced HVAC Technicians with the installation of new HVAC systems in residential and light commercial settings. Support technicians in the service and repair of existing HVAC units. Help with HVAC system changeouts, ensuring efficient and safe removal of old units and installation of new ones. Perform basic tasks such as carrying materials, organizing job sites, and cleaning up after installations and repairs. Learn and adhere to safety protocols and company procedures. Potentially assist with troubleshooting under the guidance of a senior technician. Maintain tools and equipment in good working order. Demonstrate basic knowledge of the fundamentals of the operational functionality of heating, air conditioning, and ventilation equipment, as well as related accessories and tools. Utilize mechanical aptitude to operate, or learn to operate, all necessary tools and equipment. Develop basic skills in reading wiring diagrams. Communicate effectively with customers, under the guidance of a technician, to provide excellent customer service. Take notes on job tasks, equipment function, and daily work tasks to facilitate on job training and monitor personal progress Practice effective and efficient time-management and organizational skills. Other duties as assigned to support the team. High School Diploma or GED required. Additional technical training certification in HVAC is preferred. Zero (0) to two (2) years of experience in the HVAC field is desirable. Proven experience in construction or a related field is also highly valued. Obtaining EPA Section 608 and relevant safety certifications are required, must be obtained during trial period Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed with minimal direct supervision. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Working vehicle to drive to and from work Physical ability to stand, walk, climb ladders and attic stairs, and maneuver in attics, basements, and crawl spaces to access HVAC units. Ability to continually climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl. Ability to work in a variety of environmental conditions, including hot, cold, outdoor, indoor, dry, humid, slippery surfaces, heights, and congested areas. Ability to safely climb 250 lb load capacity rated ladders while carrying a 30lb tool belt. Ability to lift and carry 75 pounds or more. Training opportunities for professional development.
