$30 - $36 per hour, based on experience, certifications, technical ability, and customer service skills. Plus available spiffs and performance bonus opportunities.

Position Summary:
Action is seeking an HVAC Service Technician to join our service department. This role is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and servicing residential and light commercial HVAC systems while providing a professional customer experience. The HVAC Service Technician represents Action in customers homes and businesses every day. We are looking for someone who can troubleshoot accurately, communicate clearly, provide repair options, complete quality work, and take pride in doing the job right. This role offers steady local work, available spifs and performance bonus opportunities, seasonal overtime as needed, and the chance to grow with a company that values skill, professionalism, customer service, and accountability.
Key Responsibilities:
Diagnose, repair, service, and maintain residential and light commercial HVAC systems. Perform no-heat, no-cool, maintenance, repair, and general HVAC service calls. Troubleshoot furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, rooftop units, mini-splits, controls, thermostats, zoning systems, refrigeration circuits, airflow issues, electrical components, and related HVAC equipment. Communicate clearly with customers about system issues, repair options, pricing, and next steps. Complete work safely, professionally, and in accordance with company standards, manufacturer requirements, and applicable codes. Provide accurate job notes, photos, equipment information, recommendations, and billing details. Identify replacement opportunities when repairs are not the best long-term solution for the customer. Support maintenance agreement opportunities and customer retention. Maintain company vehicle, tools, equipment, and inventory in a clean and professional manner. Work closely with dispatch, customer service, service management, and other technicians. Participate in training and continue developing technical skills. Reduce callbacks by completing accurate diagnostics and quality repairs. Represent Action with professionalism, honesty, and respect on every call.

The ideal candidate is a skilled HVAC technician who understands both the technical side of service and the customer side of the job. They can diagnose problems, explain solutions, complete quality repairs, and build trust with customers. This person should be dependable, organized, safety-minded, and willing to keep improving. They should take ownership of their work, communicate well with dispatch and leadership, and bring a positive attitude to the team.
Required Qualifications:
HVAC service experience. Ability to diagnose and repair residential HVAC systems. Basic understanding of electrical troubleshooting, refrigeration, airflow, gas heating, controls, and system operation. Ability to communicate professionally with customers and coworkers. Ability to complete accurate paperwork, job notes, photos, and billing information. Ability to work independently and manage daily service calls. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Valid driver license with acceptable driving record. Ability to pass applicable background check and pre-employment requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
EPA certification. Journeyman HVAC license, NATE certification, or other HVAC-related certifications preferred. Experience with residential and light commercial HVAC service. Experience with furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, mini-splits, rooftop units, controls, and zoning systems. Experience using ServiceTitan, Service Factor, or similar service software. Experience communicating repair options and replacement recommendations to customers. Strong customer service background.
Work Conditions & Requirements:
Work is performed in residential homes, commercial buildings, mechanical rooms, attics, crawl spaces, rooftops, and outdoor environments. Frequent exposure to varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, humidity, and wind. May be required to work evenings, weekends, overtime, and participate in an on-call rotation. Regular travel to customer locations throughout the service area. Exposure to dust, dirt, noise, moving mechanical parts, chemicals, and other job-site conditions. Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds regularly and occasionally up to 100 pounds with assistance. Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, and climb for extended periods. Ability to work in tight spaces, attics, crawl spaces, and on rooftops. Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, and company vehicles.
