Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and skilled HVAC Systems Technician to join our team in Tompkins County Facilities Dept.. This energetic role involves maintaining, repairing, and installing heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), refrigeration, plumbing, and mechanical systems across various properties. The ideal candidate will bring a proactive approach to field service work, ensuring optimal system performance and safety for our community facilities. Duties Perform installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC systems, including air conditioning units, boilers, and refrigeration equipment. Read and interpret schematics, technical manuals, and HVAC design plans to troubleshoot issues effectively. Conduct routine inspections of mechanical systems and property infrastructure to identify potential problems early. Repair appliances and mechanical equipment using appropriate tools such as ohmmeters and welding equipment. Maintain detailed service records, complete work orders promptly, and document repairs accurately. Assist with plumbing tasks related to HVAC systems or property maintenance as needed. Operate a driver vehicle safely while transporting tools or equipment to various job sites. Skills Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, refrigeration, plumbing, and mechanical principles. Proven experience as a service technician in construction or property maintenance environments. Ability to read schematics, technical drawings, and HVAC design documents confidently. Mechanical aptitude with skills in equipment repair, welding, boiler operation, and ammonia refrigeration systems. Familiarity with field service procedures including troubleshooting using diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters. Experience with appliance repair and general property maintenance tasks. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; experience operating driver vehicles preferred. Join us in delivering essential services that keep our community safe and comfortable! Pay:
$35.61 - $37.47 per hour
