The Pyro Technician is responsible for supporting safe and compliant furnace operation through the calibration, monitoring, adjustment, troubleshooting, and repair of furnace temperature control and recording systems. This role supports NADCAP/heat treat requirements and maintains accurate pyrometry documentation for rotary furnaces and other heat treat equipment. The Pyro Technician partners closely with Quality Control and Operations leadership to ensure temperature control systems are functioning properly and records are maintained in accordance with applicable standards and internal directives. Responsibilities Calibrate, set, monitor, and adjust furnace temperature control and recording systems for all applicable furnaces, including rotary and heat treat equipment. Set furnace temperatures in accordance with Master Route Sheets, work instructions, and applicable production requirements. Maintain and repair furnace temperature control equipment, instrumentation, sensors, recorders, wiring, and associated components. Troubleshoot temperature control, recording, and instrumentation issues, identifying root cause and restoring equipment function promptly to support production uptime. Complete all required pyrometry documentation including charts, forms, records, and related furnace surveys to ensure accurate recordkeeping and audit readiness. Interface with Quality Control, Pyrometry, and Operations leadership to confirm requirements, resolve nonconformances, and support process stability. Maintain inventory and coordinate supplies requests needed to support repairs, calibration needs, and ongoing maintenance of temperature control systems. Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation to support repairs and modifications. Support continuous improvement efforts related to furnace reliability, documentation accuracy, and compliance to internal procedures and customer requirements. Follow all safety requirements, including lockout/tagout (LOTO), PPE, and fall protection standards. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum 2 years of rotary furnace repair experience Working knowledge of furnace temperature control systems, recorders, and industrial instrumentation. Basic understanding of pyrometry concepts and compliance-driven furnace environments (NADCAP / heat treat preferred). Proven ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical diagrams. Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify equipment failures and implement effective repairs. Computer proficiency required for documentation, recordkeeping, and communication. Strong mechanical aptitude and general maintenance ability (general mechanics). Physical Requirements Must be able to stand 100% of the time. Job involves standing, walking, twisting, turning, reaching, bending, climbing steps, lifting, pushing, and pulling. Walking on uneven surfaces. Must be able to lift up to 75-pounds repeatedly Ability to work at heights up to 20 feet using appropriate fall protection and approved lifting equipment.
