Job Description

HVAC Service Technician
  • Service & Maintenance Immediate opening for an experienced HVAC service technician focused on residential service and maintenance, with light commercial exposure.

About the Role Blackthorn Mechanical (DBA Kirkwood Heating, Cooling & Plumbing) is seeking an experienced, reliable HVAC Service Technician to support our growing service and maintenance operations . This role is primarily residential HVAC service, with occasional light commercial and rooftop work . This is a hands-on, field-based role for a technician who takes pride in clean diagnostics, customer communication, and follow-through. The technician will function as a working lead on service calls while reporting directly to ownership/operations leadership. Key Responsibilities Diagnose, service, and repair residential HVAC systems (furnaces, ACs, heat pumps) Perform preventative maintenance and respond to service calls and callbacks Handle occasional light commercial and rooftop unit (RTU) service Communicate clearly with customers regarding findings, recommendations, and next steps Complete service documentation accurately and on time Work independently and, at times, alongside another technician Coordinate with dispatch and leadership to prioritize service needs Maintain a professional, respectful presence with customers and teammates What This Role Is Primarily service & maintenance (not install) Mostly residential, with some light commercial exposure A working lead role with autonomy in the field Clear reporting structure and support from ownership Qualifications 4+ years HVAC service experience preferred Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills Experience with preventative maintenance programs Comfort with occasional rooftop / light commercial units EPA certification required Valid driver's license and clean driving record Professional, reliable, and team-oriented mindset
Compensation & Benefits Pay:
