We are seeking a skilled HVAC Technician to install, maintain, and repair heating, cooling, and refrigeration systems for the National Park Service (NPS) Wawona Hotel and supported facilities. Responsibilities include diagnosing issues, performing preventive maintenance, ensuring compliance with safety codes, and delivering excellent customer service. Candidates should have HVAC certification, EPA Section 608 certification, strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills, and a valid driver's license. Key Responsibilities:
Install, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC systems including furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, and refrigeration units. Perform preventive maintenance and tune-ups to optimize system performance. Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and airflow issues, replacing or repairing defective components as needed.
- Troubleshoot Electrical systems and equipment including power distribution, plumbing and heating systems, and controllers.
- Miscellaneous electrical components; lighting, switches, motion detectors, receptacles.
- Utility chase inspections and cleaning.
Read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematics. Test systems for proper functioning and efficiency, ensuring compliance with codes and safety standards. Charge systems with refrigerants, check for leaks, and follow EPA guidelines for handling refrigerants. Maintain accurate service records, work orders, and parts inventory. Communicate effectively with customers regarding system performance, repairs, and maintenance recommendations. Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies during service operations.
Qualifications & Skills:
High school diploma or equivalent (technical or trade school preferred). Valid HVAC certification or license as required by NPS, and state or local regulations. EPA Section 608 certification for refrigerant handling (required). 2+ years of HVAC installation, repair, or maintenance experience preferred. Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration principles. Ability to read blueprints and technical diagrams. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Strong communication and customer service skills. Physical ability to lift heavy equipment, work in confined spaces, and tolerate varying weather conditions. Valid driver's license and clean driving record
