Requires a knowledge of standard tools, materials, methods, and practices involved in building maintenance, and repair, including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and painting; safe work practices, estimating materials and labor needs.
Maintenance Technician Responsibilities:
Works under general supervision within a framework of established procedures. Performs a wide variety of skilled and semiskilled building maintenance, grounds work and repair work. Performs checks and repairs to mechanical equipment as needed and when necessary. Performs and assists with repairs in effort to maintain floors, stairs, and piping. Repair and paint doors, walls, ceilings, and other parts of the building as needed. Maintains trash and receptacles around facility as needed. Judgment and initiative are required in making sound decisions in accordance with established guidelines and procedures. Repairs and maintains machinery, plumbing, physical structure, grounds and electrical wiring and fixtures in accordance with blueprints, manuals, and building codes, using hand tools and carpenter's, electrician's, and plumber's tools. Move and assemble furniture when needed. Installs electrical equipment and repairs or replaces wiring, fixtures, and bulbs; repairs or replaces brick and plaster walls; paints walls, floors, ceilings, or fixtures. Repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and other plumbing equipment. Opens clogged drains, repairs various types of furniture, doors, roofs, and ceilings. Climb ladders and walk on roof of building without fear of heights, utilizing safety precautions as outlined. Digs post holes, patches and repairs sidewalks, fencing, and streets. Inspect and change ceiling tiles as needed. Perform on call duties as needed/assigned. Ensure environment is safe and working properly. Perform other duties as assigned. Depending on work assignment, may require ordinary ambulatory skills such as; lifting weights up to 50-75 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read technical information. Overall mobility is essential including walking for long periods of time, driving a vehicle and working under challenging conditions.

Maintenance Technician Qualifications:
Have a valid driver's license. Lift up to 50-75 pounds Work from ladders Climb stairs Stand or walk for long periods of time. Stand, walk, sit, bend, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl. Work in an outdoor environment, with exposure to inclement weather and varying temperatures.
