You want to master a highly specialized trade within the plumbing industry and become the go-to expert that other technicians rely on.
JOB DUTIES
Perform accurate, non-destructive leak detection on residential and commercial water lines, sewer lines, slabs, and walls. Utilize advanced technology, including acoustic listening equipment, thermal imaging cameras, tracer gas, and video inspection tools. Mark exact leak locations clearly for the plumbing excavation and repair teams. Provide over-the-top customer service by explaining your findings and the recommended next steps to the homeowner (Lead role). Create highly detailed digital reports, including photos, videos, and mapped diagrams for insurance purposes and repair crews. Maintain, calibrate, and protect highly sensitive and expensive diagnostic equipment.
QUALIFICATIONS
Lead Technician:
Previous experience in leak detection, plumbing service, or underground utility locating required. Strong understanding of residential plumbing systems, water pressure, and building construction. Patient, methodical, and highly observant. Comfortable leading a job, managing specialized equipment, and communicating directly with customers.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & LICENSING
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Excellent hearing. (Acoustic leak detection relies heavily on the ability to hear faint, specific frequencies). Must be able to lift and carry 50+ lbs of equipment. Must be able to be on your feet, knees, and crawling for extended periods of time. Must be able to work in crawl spaces, attics, and outdoors in the elements. Clean, professional appearance and good communication skills.
