Job Description

Job Summary Plan, direct, and complete work required to install and maintain all types of air conditioning and refrigeration systems throughout all plant and office locations. Follow oral and published job instructions. Blueprints, sketches, wiring and piping diagrams, service manuals, etc., to install, connect, adjust and repair air conditioning and refrigeration units and their accessory equipment. Perform preventative maintenance on air conditioning and refrigeration equipment. Make wiring and piping diagrams of new installations. Maintain all required records of unit operation, maintenance, testing results, etc. This job will be performed Monday - Friday, approximately 7am - 3:30pm with periodical times working beyond this structure to meet project deadlines or stakeholder meetings (including possible weekend work). This position is eligible for overtime opportunities as approved by Facilities Manager. This job will require less than 10% travel to other sites outside of Carlisle, PA in a calendar year.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct water tests on refrigeration systems. Record test information. Detect and repair refrigerant line leaks in cooling systems. Check and repair refrigerant pressures in coils. Clean and/or replace air filters, screens, strainers, etc. Install, regulate, and repair thermostats, switches, relays, etc. Lubricate moving parts. Clean equipment as necessary. Requisition required materials. Write work orders for required work. Maintain inventory of required parts Refer to blueprints, schematics, piping diagrams, and service manuals in completion of job tasks. Must recover all refrigerants. Troubleshoot Mechanical and Electrical components of all HVAC Equipment throughout the Carlisle Campus Expectation to understand, participate in, and support company COS initiatives, with focus on developing a lean mindset. Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Essential Full Performance Knowledge:
Understanding of basic HVAC & electrical principles as they apply to facilities maintenance. Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of air conditioning and refrigeration units and all safety systems. Knowledge of water treatment requirements with an understanding of statistical process control. Knowledge of the plant process water cooling system is required. Must be state certified to handle refrigerants. (Low pressure, high pressure and small appliance). Company and department policies and procedures. Basic Power distribution system Basic Communication equipment Location of Electrical rooms and Boiler rooms Basic operation of Fire protection equipment Basic operation of Security systems
Knowledge of SAP Essential Full Performance Skills:
Technical skills commensurate with an experienced multi-craft technician Communication skills to provide turnover to shift supervisor of work need to be continued on another shift. Basic electrical skills Strong verbal and written skills Demonstrated leadership skills
Essential Full Performance Abilities:
Ability to troubleshoot small equipment, or small equipment control problems to quickly focus on source of problem and correct it in an efficient manner. Ability to read sketches, blueprints, catalogs, maintenance manuals, work orders, etc Ability to use various hand tools Ability to operate forklift, hydraulic lift, truck, tractor, hoist, crane
Education and Experience:
Educational Requirements:
Must have a collegiate or vocational school HVAC program as well as EPA certification. Willingness for continuous education.
PAT Testing Completion Valid Drivers License Experience Requirements:
Formal HVAC Training from a Technical school or college and certificates related. Equivalency - Five years of HVAC and electrical experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment.
Working Conditions:
Consists primarily of plant floor and office atmospheres. Manufacturing Plant environment may be dirty, dusty, and hotter/colder than office settings. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Used:
Eye and hearing protection is required at all times on the production floor. Safety toe shoes (steel/composite) on the production floor. Other PPE as defined by management within assigned department
