This individual will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing HVAC and refrigeration systems throughout a large-scale food manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in ensuring equipment reliability, food safety compliance, and uninterrupted production operations while adhering to all safety and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of facility HVAC and refrigeration equipment. Diagnose equipment failures and recurring issues, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions to minimize downtime. Troubleshoot HVAC electrical controls and related system components. Utilize testing equipment and diagnostic tools to evaluate equipment performance and determine repair requirements. Execute preventive maintenance programs on HVAC and refrigeration systems to maximize reliability and operational efficiency. Assist with general facility maintenance and repair projects as needed. Maintain accurate service records, repair documentation, and parts usage through computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS). Ensure all work is completed in accordance with GMP, safety, and company quality standards. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment at all times.
Key Requirements:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in HVAC maintenance and repair. EPA Universal Certification required. High school diploma or GED required; vocational or technical training in HVAC technology strongly preferred. Experience working with large commercial or industrial HVAC systems, including rooftop package units ranging from 30-50 tons. Knowledge of refrigeration systems, including ammonia refrigeration systems and associated equipment such as compressors, evaporators, and cooling towers. Ability to troubleshoot HVAC electrical controls, gas heating systems, and mechanical equipment. Proficiency with computer systems and maintenance management software. Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds and perform physical maintenance activities in an industrial environment. Willingness to work overtime and participate in an emergency on-call rotation as needed. Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with employees across multiple departments. Demonstrated reliability and strong attendance record.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working within a food manufacturing, bakery, pharmaceutical, or other regulated production environment. Familiarity with GMP requirements and food safety standards. Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to independently diagnose and resolve complex equipment issues. Self-motivated team player with a proactive approach to preventive maintenance and continuous improvement initiatives. Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English to understand safety procedures, work instructions, and hazardous material labeling.
