Job Description
This job maintains the total HVAC-R equipment throughout Ochsner Health System facilities. The HVAC-R Mechanic troubleshoots, repairs, and performs Preventive Maintenance on a wide variety of Air Conditioning systems, Pneumatic Systems, Ice Makers, Refrigerators, and Freezers, utilizing specialized test equipment and hand/power tools. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. - High School diploma or equivalent Work Experience Required
- 2 years job related experience Certifications Required
- Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) certification or within 6 months of hire Preferred
- Class "A" air condition and refrigeration license in the state of practice and completion of accredited courses in air condition and refrigeration Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs) Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally.
- Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

The constant stress and strain of maintaining a production rate pace, especially in an industrial setting, can be and is physically demanding of a worker even though the amount of force exerted is negligible Must have good vision correctable to 20-20 with no color blindness. Must be able to crawl, climb, and bend without any restrictions. Must be able to work indoors, outdoors, in restricted spaces, etc., as job duties dictate. May require working a flexible schedule such as nights, weekends, and extended shifts etc. and emergency call outs. Normal routine involves no exposure to blood, body fluid or tissue and as part of their employment, incumbents are not called upon to perform or assist in emergency care or first aid. The incumbent has no occupational risk for exposure to communicable diseases. Because the incumbent works within a healthcare setting, there may be occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste within the environment through receipt, transport, storage, preparation, dispensing, administration, cleaning and/or disposal of contaminated waste.
