Immediately Job Description Job Overview The HVAC Student Summer support employee will support licensed HVAC technicians in maintaining safe, efficient, and well-functioning school facilities. This opportunity provides hands-on exposure to heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, as well as daily building operations, preventative maintenance, and facility management practices within an educational environment. Student Summer Support staff will gain broad experience in commercial building systems and facilities operations while developing workplace readiness and technical skills in the skilled trades. This position is open only to currently enrolled LCPS high school students. Applicants who do not meet this requirement will not be considered. Roles and Responsibilities Assist with preventative maintenance of HVAC systems including air handling units, rooftop units, boilers, and related equipment. Support filter replacements, inspections, and routine system checks. Observe troubleshooting and repair of heating and cooling equipment under supervision. Support minor maintenance tasks and basic repairs as assigned. Learn about building automation, work order systems, and facility documentation. Help maintain clean, safe, and organized mechanical and work areas. Follow all safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment (PPE). Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Below are the minimum qualifications for this job. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Interest in HVAC technology, or Facilities Management. Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn. Ability to follow technical and safety procedures. Professional communication skills and strong work ethic. General knowledge of occupational hazards and safety. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Eligibility Requirements Must be a currently enrolled LCPS high school junior or senior. Applicants who do not meet this requirement will not be considered Physical Requirements This job requires strength, agility, dexterity, and visual acuity to perform all tasks. While performing the duties of this job, the employee must adhere to all site safety regulations and may be required to regularly stand, sit, walk, bend, climb ladders, and/or kneel. There may be exposure to extreme heat and cold, outdoor environments, heavy equipment, moving machinery, fumes, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noises. This job requires lifting up to 25 lbs., periodically lifting/moving up to 50 lbs., and occasional lifting/moving up to 100 lbs. alone or with assistance. Must be Comfortable working in mechanical rooms and active school environments. Reports to: Facilities Supervisor
