Job Description

We're hiring a Sales Rep to cover the northwest / rocky mountain region:
WA, OR, ID, MT, WY, UT, CO.
Base salary: 80-100k + quarterly commissions and bonuses + 15% annual based on growth
Travel:

Sales Rep responsible for identifying, developing, and closing sales within an assigned territory — with a primary focus on HVAC contractors, mechanical contractors, and the distributor networks that serve them. The ideal candidate is someone who has worked in the trades — a former HVAC contractor, installer, or field technician who has since moved into a sales or customer-facing role — or a sales professional with substantial, hands-on experience selling directly to HVAC contractors and influencing their product specifications. You know how contractors think, what they need on a job site, and how to earn their trust. You speak their language. This role is central to FAMCO's growth strategy. You will work alongside Manufacturer's Representatives to expand market share, strengthen contractor relationships, and build pipeline within a defined geographic territory. Contractor and Field Sales Serve as the primary relationship owner for HVAC contractors, mechanical contractors, and installing dealers within the assigned territory Leverage firsthand trade knowledge to build immediate credibility with contractors and field teams Conduct on-site visits, product walk-throughs, and technical demonstrations tailored to contractor workflows and job-site realities Identify and develop new contractor accounts through prospecting, cold calling, and referral outreach Act as the primary contact for all House Accounts within the defined area Attend and represent FAMCO at HVAC trade shows, contractor events, and distributor open houses Distribution & Channel Management Work in conjunction with Manufacturer's Representatives to drive growth and expand market share through distribution channels Create end-user (contractor) demand and pull sales through distributor networks — demonstrated success in this model is essential Cultivate relationships with distributor branch managers and counter staff to ensure FAMCO products are front-of-mind Monitor competitive activity at the distributor level and report back to management Sales Planning & Performance Develop, implement, and manage a strategic sales plan for the territory in partnership with the Sales Department Leader. Maintain a continuously updated sales pipeline including customer contacts, opportunities, accomplishments, and next steps Achieve agreed-upon sales targets and outcomes within schedule Analyze territory and market potential; track sales and submit regular status reports Supply management with reports on customer needs, competitive activity, and potential for new products or services Prudently manage travel-related expenses including weekly and monthly reporting Customer Experience Expedite resolution of customer problems and complaints to maximize satisfaction and retention Provide product education and demonstrations that translate technical specs into practical contractor benefits Continuously improve through customer feedback and internal coaching
Qualifications, Required:
Authorized to work in the United States (FAMCO participates in E-Verify) 2+ years of sales experience with HVAC contractors, mechanical contractors, or in HVAC/building products distribution — OR — prior experience as an HVAC technician, installer, or contractor who has transitioned into a sales or account management role Demonstrated track record of building contractor relationships and pulling product specifications through distribution Strong working knowledge of HVAC systems, components, and contractor workflows Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills Highly motivated and target-driven with a proven sales track record Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities independently Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) Willing and able to travel 25-50% within the assigned territory
Qualifications, Preferred:
Former HVAC contractor, installer, or field technician with hands-on trade experience Bachelor's degree in business or a related field Familiarity with ventilation products, rooftop accessories, or building envelope solutions Experience managing or collaborating with a Manufacturer's Rep network Existing relationships with HVAC distributors or contractor accounts in the territory

Industry Knowledge:
Working understanding of HVAC systems, components, installation practices, and the contractor buying process
Contractor Credibility:
Ability to communicate at a peer level with field technicians, project managers, and business owners in the trades
Sales Execution:
Ability to prospect, present, negotiate, and close with a structured, consistent approach
Communication:
Effective verbal and written communication in English across audiences (field, distributor, internal)
Problem Solving:
Ability to analyze territory data, troubleshoot customer issues, and make sound decisions under pressure
Technology:
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; comfort with CRM or sales tracking tools
Physical:
Ability to stand, sit, and move throughout the workday; lift/carry up to 50 lbs
Pay:
$80,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
