We are a globally recognized leader in the design, engineering, and manufacture of tube and fin heat exchangers serving the HVAC, refrigeration, and industrial process cooling markets. With operations spanning multiple continents and decades of proven expertise, our products are installed in mission-critical applications worldwide. We are committed to innovation, quality, and regulatory excellence across every product line
POSITION SUMMARY
The Technical Writer will develop, maintain, and continuously improve all technical documentation associated with our tube and fin heat exchanger product lines. This role serves as the bridge between engineering, regulatory compliance, product management, and end users—translating complex technical content into clear, accurate, and standards-compliant documentation for both technical and non-technical audiences. The ideal candidate combines strong writing skills with deep knowledge of HVAC industry regulations and mechanical systems.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Author, edit, and maintain installation, operation, and maintenance (IOM) manuals for tube and fin heat exchanger products across commercial and industrial applications.
Develop and manage compliance documentation including product submittals, engineering specifications, material safety data sheets (SDS), and regulatory certification packages.
Ensure all documentation meets or exceeds applicable standards and codes, including but not limited to ASHRAE, AHRI, UL, CTI, CRN, CSA, ASME, EPA, and relevant international standards (EN, ISO).
Collaborate with design engineers, R&D teams, and product managers to capture accurate technical details for new product launches and engineering change orders (ECOs).
Create and update product catalogs, selection guides, application bulletins, and technical white papers for internal and external audiences.
Manage the documentation lifecycle using structured content management systems (e.g., DITA/XML, Smart Media Creator (SMC), or similar).
Maintain and organize documentation libraries.
Manage revisions and version control of all technical documents.
Coordinate with the Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs teams to ensure documentation aligns with
ISO 9001
quality management system requirements.
Support warranty and field service teams by developing troubleshooting guides, service bulletins, and technical advisories.
Review and incorporate feedback from sales engineering, distribution partners, and end-user field reports to improve documentation clarity and usability.
Contribute to the preparation of documentation for regulatory audits, product certifications, and agency listings.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of 5 years of professional technical writing experience in the HVAC, refrigeration, or mechanical engineering manufacturing industry.
Demonstrated expertise with HVAC industry regulatory frameworks, including ASHRAE standards (e.g., 15, 34, 90.1), AHRI certification programs, CTI standards and ATC's, UL/CSA safety listings, and EPA refrigerant regulations (e.g., Section 608, AIM Act).
Bachelor's degree in Technical Communication, Mechanical Engineering, English, or a closely related discipline.
Proven ability to interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, wiring schematics, and bills of materials.
Proficiency with industry-standard authoring tools such as Smart Media Creator (SMC), Microsoft Visio, and/or structured content (DITA XML).
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and document control/PLM systems.
Exceptional attention to detail with a commitment to technical accuracy and editorial consistency.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Certified Professional Technical Communicator (CPTC) credential from the Society for Technical Communication.
Experience with tube and fin coil manufacturing processes, including brazing, mechanical expansion, circuiting, and fin stamping.
Familiarity with global regulatory requirements for heat exchangers (CE marking, PED, ATEX, RoHS, REACH).
Working knowledge of CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Creo) sufficient to extract documentation-relevant details.
Experience in a multinational manufacturing environment with exposure to localization and translation management workflows.
Knowledge of refrigerant transition regulations and low-GWP alternatives relevant to heat exchanger design.
