Job Description

Traveling Mechanical Startup Technician Location:
Charleston, SC or Aiken, SC Salary:
$60hr - $70hr + Per Diem Our client is a leading mechanical construction company specializing in innovative HVAC solutions for commercial and industrial clients. Position Overview We are seeking a skilled HVAC Equipment Startup Technician with strong knowledge of refrigeration systems and hands-on experience starting up various mechanical equipment. The ideal candidate will have EPA certification, a proven track record with HVAC equipment installation, and the ability to work primarily onsite at project locations. Key Responsibilities Start-up HVAC equipment, including: Air Handling Units Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) Fan Coil Units (FCUs) Fans (Supply, Return and/or Exhaust) Pumps or Pump Skids Unit Heaters Air Curtains Variable Air Volume (VAV) and Constant Air Volume (CAV) units Water Heaters Humidifiers Package HVAC mechanical equipment; such as Refrigerant Split Systems, Heat Pumps, & Computer Room Air Handlers Perform refrigeration installations and evacuations in compliance with industry standards. Conduct system testing and troubleshooting to ensure proper operation. Maintain accurate documentation of work performed and report directly to Quality Management Provide onsite support to project teams and clients. Use provided tools and technology, including a company phone, laptop/tablet, and vehicle, to efficiently complete tasks. Comprehend and comply with equipment Installation, Operation, & Maintenance Manuals Review/comprehend equipment Submittals Pre-startup activities for EAS and/or 3rd Party Vendor Equipment Startups Troubleshoot Mechanical Equipment issues Physically resolve warranty claims Complete/Submit timesheets and expense reports Understand and inspect electrical installations per the NEC Install and inspect aspects of Control Systems Read and understand Mechanical, Electrical and Control Drawings Perform schedule preventative maintenance on mechanical equipment
Special Skills:
NFPA 70e Certified and or Trained Good documentation and communication skills Vision for success and the ability to develop quality staff members Demonstrate leadership skills, coaching, and problem solving Ability to coordinate multiple projects, people, and functions Set continuous examples of a high-level of Safety on the job as well as courteous and defensive driving skills Always keep a clean and neat appearance, including vehicle and tools Maintain a flexible working schedule, including potential weekend and/or emergency service calls Operate arial lifts on project sites Maintain a current, valid driver's license and satisfactory
Motor Vehicle Report Pay:
$60.00 - $70.00 per hour
