EXPERIENCE:
Previous on the job experience and knowledge of HVAC repair and maintenance Position Function/Purpose The daily oversight of personnel and work orders for repairs maintenance and upgrades to the HVAC (Heating ventilation and air conditioning), Mechanical and Refrigeration Equipment at all district facilities. Conduct the Day to Day operations of the districts HVAC Mechanical construction and repair projects. Major Responsibilities 1. Work directly with the F.C.C.S Supervisor in scheduling the repairs and modifications of all district mechanical property and equipment 2. Estimate and secure materials for HVAC Mechanical and Refrigeration Department 3. Maintain records and schedules of jobs completed, including mechanical and refrigeration repairs, materials used, etc. 4. Communicate with administrators in order to coordinate schedules for the least amount of disturbance 5. Provide the necessary skills and procedures required to adequately develop and maintain periodic maintenance and repairs on various standard HVAC mechanical units, pumps, Blowers, valves, controls, etc. 6. Provide the necessary skills needed to adequately assist the Mechanical/Electrical Plumbing departments v various district construction or repair projects 7. Provide the necessary skills to adequately trouble shoot maintenance problems which occur w with HVAC equipment and HVAC Controls 8. Have the ability to follow instructions and be flexible to changes in work assignments 9. Monitor quality and quantity of work done by the HVAC Department 10. Keep F.C.C.S. Supervisor informed on all projects with work order status 11. Maintain EPA mandated refrigerant records for all district equipment 12. Must be willing to follow instructions and be flexible to changes in work assignments 13. Follow and enforce the rules and regulations of the School Plant Services Department and the Midland Independent School District 14. Once assigned, coordinate and inspect the design, installation and quality control of contracted s service HVAC installations for the district 15. Provide preliminary evaluations comments for all HVAC staff to the F.C.C.S Supervisor for consideration of employee performance appraisals 16. Maintain and process HVAC work orders, invoices, budget schedules and other production records for the HVAC department 17. As assigned, shall serve on the rotating 24-hour emergency on-call beeper service for School Plant Services 18. Perform other duties as assigned by the F.C.C.S. Supervisor and the Executive Director of School Plant services. Qualification Requirements
Minimum Certification/Education:
1. High School Diploma or GED 2. Valid Texas Driver License and acceptable driving record; must adhere to Midland ISD's vehicle safety & use program 3. Maintain EPA refrigerant certification - Level I, II & Universal
Special Knowledge/Skills:
1. Extensive knowledge of HVAC Mechanical and refrigeration repairs and repair techniques including m maintenance and new construction 2. General knowledge and aptitude of building construction and electrical systems 3. Project a positive attitude among other district personnel and demonstrate a Willingness to work 4. Background in general HVAC Control Systems and Energy Management Control Systems 5. Background in energy efficient mechanical systems 6. Be able to work independently, self-motivated 7. Proven ability to manage a group of people 8. The ability to plan and budget projects 9. Possess a working knowledge and ability to read construction documents, drawings and equipment schematic drawings 10. General computer knowledge
Minimum Experience:
1. Two years prior experience as a HVAC Mechanical or refrigeration repairman Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. General hand tools, electric power tools typical to the HVAC Mechanical or Refrigeration trades 2. Standard MISD vehicle, pickup or van as assigned 3. Ladders, lifts, etc. 4. Standard HVAC repair, diagnostic and electrical metering equipment 5. Oxygen/acetylene torch and welding/brazing equipment 6. Office computer and district supported software Work Environment The environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. 1. Outside and inside, extreme heat or cold 2. Dirt, dust, refrigerants, chemicals and solvents 3. Electrical energy 4. Working on ladders and scaffolding 5. Working in tight concealed spaces, attics, tunnels, etc. 6.
