Join Volk Field Civil Engineering's team! The State of Wisconsin, Department of Military Affairs (DMA) is hiring a HVAC-Adv. This position is headquartered at Volk Field Combat Readiness Training Center (CRTC), in Camp Douglas, WI. Volk Field is one of only four Air National Guard Combat Readiness Training Centers in the nation, and the only one that does not share its airfield with a civilian airport. The Training Center Mission is to provide a year-round integrated training environment (airspace, facilities, equipment) for units to enhance their combat capabilities and readiness. Working for Wisconsin State Government may make you eligible for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program Position Summary Under the supervision of the Buildings and Grounds Supervisor, this position performs and coordinates the operation, repair, and maintenance of all heating plants, heat pumps, air conditioning, ventilation and refrigeration systems and their corresponding controls. This position will also control heating and air conditioning systems using the Building Automation computer system and monitor adjustments that are made. This position requires programming and installation knowledge of Honeywell, Automated Logic, Johnson Controls, Siemens, KMC, Trane, etc., DDC Control Systems, working for the Department of Military Affairs at Volk Field, Combat Readiness Training Center (CRTC). Salary Information Starting pay is $32.21/ hr. This position is in the 03/15pay schedule/range. A 12-month probation will be required. The schedule for this position will be 4, 10-hour shifts per week (0600-1630). For current permanent state employees, pay will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan. Job Details Must possess or be eligible to obtain and maintain a valid driver's license and meet the requirements of the State of Wisconsin Fleet Vehicle Policy to drive a state vehicle.State of Wisconsin Fleet Vehicle Policy:
Must have a valid driver's license Minimum of two year's driving experience Must be 18 years of age or older Additionally, the driving record must not reflect the following conditions: Three or more moving violations (with point reductions) and/or at fault accidents in the past 2 years An OWI or DUI violation within the past 12 months A suspension or revocation of the driver's license Must possess or acquire within the 1-year probationary period a valid Department of Commerce Refrigerant Handling Technician Certification and a valid EPA Universal Technician Certification for refrigerant. In order to gain access to military facilities and to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled, DMA will conduct a comprehensive background check. In addition, the position requires a Common Access Card (CAC). A CAC requires successful completion of a Department of Defense investigation and an additional more in-depth federal background check, for gaining access to federal computer systems, restricted locations, or classified information. Must be physically able to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds. Must be able to operate lift equipment and have no limitations for working in high areas. All new permanent, project, and limited term employees will be required to report to Joint Force Headquarters (JFHQ) in Madison on the Monday of their first week of employment for the New Employee Orientation (NEO) program. Additional information will be sent to the new employees and their supervisors on the Tuesday prior to NEO. The Department of Military Affairs does not sponsor work visas at the time of hire or anytime during employment. All persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and complete the required Employment Eligibility Form I-9. This is a State of Wisconsin Civil Service position. The DMA does not require current or previous military experience. All new permanent, project, and limited term employees will be required to report to Joint Force Headquarters (JFHQ) in Madison on the Monday of their first week of employment for the New Employee Orientation (NEO) program. Additional information will be sent to the new employees and their supervisors on the Tuesday prior to NEO. Qualifications Candidates who meet minimum qualifications will have: Experience with installing, diagnosing, and repairing commercial/industrial HVAC systems. Must possess a valid driver's license and remain qualified as a condition of continued employment and meet the requirements of the State of Wisconsin Fleet Vehicle Policy. Must be physically able to lift and move objects in excess of 50 pounds. Possession of a valid Universal Technician certification for handling refrigerants from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency or ability to attain before the end of 12-month probationary period. Must be able to operate lift equipment and have no limitations for working in High areas.
